  1. TRADE HIM NOW
  2. Lefty Specialist wrote: I loved him in Airplane! HAHAHAHAHAHA
  3. Exactly. Topps is a fuckin' cash cow, which is why they bought it. Everyone panicked (myself included, a little bit) when the original deal when down, but I said at the time that a LOT would happen between then and 2025, and this proves it. Fanatics isn't going to spend millions of dollars and then alienate the oldest part of their fan base with the most disposable income to blow on this stuff.
  4. Yeah, and Topps sort of said as much today. I'm sure we'll see changes in distribution and process and whatnot between now and then, but it looks like the brand will survive.
  5. I enjoyed that book quite a bit too -- it was a neat concept.
  6. Agree with the general sentiment. I've always liked Familia; he seems to be comfortable here, he's generally pretty effective, and could be the righty Pedro Feliciano (if you ignore the half-season in Oakland). I'm good with a minor-league deal.
  7. Sure, and I got fuckin' FORESTS and POLKA YOUR EYES OUT. Pfft.
  8. I feel like the wording of that Lynchburg question is important. Not that he was an important Met, but more like he was traded for somebody. I have no idea, though.
  9. Edgy MD wrote: He also joined the Mets for the 2015 World Series, taking Ruben Tejada's roster spot after he was assassinated by Chase Utley. Had he appeared in a game, he would have been only the second player in history to make his big league debut in the World Series. Instead, Raul Mondesi Jr beat him to it in that same Series. That would have been a neat little factoid if he'd gotten into the game too.
  10. There's guys like Clemens and Palmiero who the Mets drafted but never signed, but those don't really count.
  11. Season opener 76 for me, then, which would be a Tom Seaver pitch to Pepe Mangual.
  12. Okay, so ONE photoshopped stock photo model is on Team McClendon.
  13. Edgy MD wrote: Also a tough break for Team McClendon. Good thing literally nobody is on Team McClendon...?
  14. "00 Days Without Team Fiasco" is the Metsiest headline ever.
  15. I love the tidbit in today's FAFIF: Hill has now signed as a free agent with the Red Sox *seven* separate times.
  16. Also, reading between lines that aren't really there, you don't issue a guy #1 and then just trade his ass away after new Collective Bargaining Agreement is in place. Amirite? Yeah, I read that the same way. Seems to "solidify" his spot a bit, for whatever that's worth. But what the hell do I know.
  17. Yeah, I agree that it'll be somewhere in mid-February.
  18. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Anthony DiComo and Jim Duquette were talking about Stroman on Mets Hot Stove. Implied that he may have been a bad influence in the clubhouse and said that Scherzer is an upgrade over Stroman. I don't know about the bad influence thing, but Scherzer/Stroman isn't an either/or, so that spin doesn't make any sense at all. Yeah, this is bordering on some racist bullshit right here. Upgrade on the field? Absolutely. But you don't know shit about the clubhouse, Middle Aged White Guys. Sit this one out.
  19. Long Island guy, outspoken, smart, helluva pitcher. Really enjoyed rooting for him.
  20. Definitely a guy that in five years I'm going to be like "he was a Met?"
  21. I suppose it maybe, theoretically puts the small number of best incoming players in situations where maybe, theoretically, they can contribute sooner to a team that maybe, theoretically, could be on the cusp of a playoff spot.
  22. =Centerfield post_id=82247 time=1638368186 user_id=65] I think trading JD just when the NL adopts the DH would be a mistake. He still hit well last year, even with a torn ligament. He isn't expensive and adds value. Trading McNeil and Smith at the lowest of their trade value seems unwise as well. And trading either for a middle reliever seems positively Wilponian. Maybe even Phillipsian. Both, especially McNeil, seem like a good candidate to bounce back. I wouldn't want anyone thinking that either needs to be unloaded. I mean, if we get value for them, sure. But that seems unlikely given their off years.
  23. I do get Murphy/Turner vibes from McNeil. "Yeah, he's expendable, he's replaceable..." and then goes OFF somewhere else.
  24. I wonder if Gsellman lands in Anaheim to reunite with Syndergaard. I believe they were close.
  25. A Boy Named Seo wrote: I know I'm in the minority, but I got a huge kick out of the thumbs down thing and will always think of that when Javy comes up. I know fans have the right to boo and yyybbb, but why do players have to just take it? They don't. A quiet mirror of discontent back on the fans was perfect until its meaning became known. So talented on both sides of the game and outrageously fun to watch. I'll miss him a lot. This, mostly. I was worried about the strikeouts, and then suddenly I wasn't. Seemed like a likeable dude, overall. (Also annoyed because he leaves me with a really expensive guy on my autograph need list who only got 186 PA with us.)
