  1. =Fman99 post_id=93188 time=1653306522 user_id=86] Happy to be so so wrong on him when I assumed that he'd never hit enough to justify regular starts at any position. But yes, if he's going to show this glove and also get some singles & doubles at the dish, then keep trotting him out there.
  2. I mean, yeah, this: =roger_that post_id=92897 time=1653008159 user_id=128] I worry about the Mets. They have a troubling tendency to collapse with almost no advance notice.
  3. =nymr83 post_id=92904 time=1653011358 user_id=54] Did the Mets ever get to the point where they saw his medicals? maybe the medical staff is smarter now. Maybe not signing Kumar Rocker will prove wise too.
  4. EVERYTHING SUCKS NOW
  5. CF Nimmo SS Lindor LF McNeil DH Alonso 1B Dom 3B Escobar 2B Guillorme RF Jankowski C Mazeika P Williams Marte to the bereavement list for a few days, Nogosek up, Medina the 27th man for today.
  6. If they're going to walk the ballpark, you gotta cash in, especially early. Nice hit by Canha in a big spot. 2-0 good guys.
  7. "He'll be fine, should be back in there Friday night. Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday morning and he's expected to make a full recovery for 2023." No, it's more like "he's resting it for a few weeks" which turns into "it'll get better in the offseason" which turns into "a slow start to spring training but we're taking it easy" which turns into "surgery in May 2023 and hopefully we'll see him in February."
  8. Boston has giant digit statues outside Fenway for all the retired number guys too.
  9. If you'd said something in January like "by mid-May, they'll be replacing deGrom on the roster with a castoff glorified LOOGY who nobody's ever heard of" I'd expect us to be about fifteen games out of first at that point.
  10. We've done Wrigley and Fenway. They were both extensive for different reasons, although I definitely feel like we got to see more "behind the scenes" stuff at Wrigley. The Fenway tour was HUGE, though, so I also understand the logistical challenges of moving big groups through smaller areas. I'd pay for the Edgy tour, definitely.
  11. It reads like one of those old Jayson Stark columns. "Did you know that the last time a visiting team came down from six runs in the ninth to win the game before the Mets did it last week was in eighteen-dickety-seven when the St. Louis Browns did it... and then Josh Naylor and the Cleveland Guardians did it AGAIN, just six days later?"
  12. Willets Point wrote: I don't understand what all the handwringing is about. No-hitters are awesome! We love the Mets! Thus, a Mets pitcher getting a no-hitter is awesome! I'd never seen a no-hitter happen live, either at the ballpark or on tv. And then one night about 10 years ago I tuned into a game of my favorite team and saw a no hitter. It was my first no-hitter and my team's first no-hitter, and it was great! As I've noted before, I felt so emotional that I wept a little. I really don't understand why anyone could think this is a bad thing. This, exactly. Like, why can't you just enjoy things? It's just a game. If something GOOD happening to your supposedly favorite team makes you angry, then maybe you need a new hobby.
  13. Edgy MD wrote: There's also the Willets model, of folks who move to a new city, and boldly keep their Mets flag flying, but then the kids come along, and they want to go see the local team and you take them, and they fall in love with the local team and you love them, and so you have to adopt the local team into your heart at least a little. One of my best friends from high school lives in south Jersey, and his kids are growing up Phillies fans and it kills both of us. LOL!
  14. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=91736 time=1652110310 user_id=68] Also, I would've noticed that mistake immediately, in like less than half a second, had I ever seen the back of the Seaver statue before today.
  15. Jomboy is really good.
  16. This whole thread is an all-time classic.
  17. Oh, come on. Even if you don't put them at the top, to say that Aerosmith and the Eagles aren't even top THIRTY means you're not even on the same planet. In Taijuan's defense, Since Tai joined the Mets, Schwarber's only 4 for 8 with 4 home runs off him. (Sigh.) Also, Schwarber is entering serious all-time "I hate that guy" territory.
  18. =Fman99 post_id=91378 time=1651752773 user_id=86] Is Aerosmith the United States' all time greatest classic rock band? I think they may be.
  19. Hey, I presented at that.
  20. This is far and away the wildest baseball-card related thing I've ever seen. Tanner Jones is a card collector/designer who is the world's biggest Jose Canseco fan, and what he just made is absolutely mind-blowing. https://tanmanbaseballfan.com/2022/05/youve-never-seen-a-baseball-card-like-this-before-mystery-cabinet-full-of-secrets-surprises.htmlhttps://tanmanbaseballfan.com/2022/05/youve-never-seen-a-baseball-card-like-this-before-mystery-cabinet-full-of-secrets-surprises.html
  21. They should both sign with the Ducks.
  22. The Wilpons would have doubled down and signed him to an extension. I think Robbie is a good dude. I wish him the best in his retirement.
  23. Diaz was *something* last night. Even he said post-game that he was filthy. If he's pitching like that, he's unhittable. This team is magic, friends.
