  1. Well, we're not in last place any more, at least.
  2. Can we just Trachsel Williams down to Syracuse for a few weeks in hopes he figures it out?
  3. Just walk Buxton intentionally, because whatever he's about to do will be worse.
  4. No, he just forgot where the strike zone was.
  5. Look, I know you want Williams to get his cahnfidence back, but suddenly this is NOT a save situation any more, and we know what happens to closers™ when it's not a save situation. Don't do this, Mendoza.
  6. And this day, Bo Bichette finally became a Met.
  7. One we beat last April, including a Soto dinger: https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MIN/MIN202504140.shtml TWO IN A ROW, BABY
  8. Mets with at least 1500 PA and less than 10 total SB attempts: Name PA SB CS Rusty Staub 2965 6 3 Dave Magadan 2483 5 3 Gary Carter 2448 2 3 Carlos Delgado 2023 5 1 John Olerud 2018 5 2 Wilmer Flores 2011 3 3 Rafael Santana 1632 2 4 Todd Zeile 1631 4 4
  9. I know it's only one data point, but Mets with notable CS-SB splits. Name SB CS Elliott Maddox 6 22 Ed Kranepool 15 27 Doug Flynn 7 15 Mike Vail 0 8 Charlie Neal 3 10 Chris Cannizzaro 1 8 Jerry Grote 14 20 Bobby Klaus 4 10 Bobby Bonilla 8 13 Robin Ventura 6 11 Carlos Baerga 2 7 Ellis Valentine 1 6 Jeff Kent 12 16 Al Moran 3 7 Al Luplow 2 6 Jeromy Burnitz 15 18 Jay Payton 14 17 Félix Millán 11 14 Ron Hodges 10 13 Jim Hickman 9 12 Ryan Thompson 8 11 Tim Teufel 6 9 Willie Mays 2 5 Charlie O'Brien 1 4 Amos Otis 1 4 Mackey Sasser 0 3 Jeremy Reed 0 3
  10. Kinda feel like this deserves its own thread. From the 4/22 IGT:
  11. We used to joke about the time that one of the broadcasters (Kiner?) said something about Charlie O'Brien "carrying a piano on his back" down the first base line.
  12. <sprays champagne ironically>
  13. You know? I'm still not optimistic, BUT. We haven't played anyone in our division yet, and except for the Braves, they've all been almost as shit as we have. Hell, the Phillies have lost seven straight, which in any other context we'd be celebrating. We're "only" four games out of second place, and six and a half out of a wild card spot. So a lot CAN still happen. It IS early. But this team is still shit right now.
  14. Twins call up a guy named Connor Prielipp to start tonight. Anyone have a B-R Stathead account? I want to see Mets' stats against guys making their first or second major league starts the past, oh, twenty years or so. I'd bet it's fucking abysmal.
  15. You kinda have to keep Soto, Lindor, and McLean. Soto is still one of the absolute best hitters of this generation. Lindor is still the face of the team, and he's a 10/5 guy anyway. (And I have a soft spot for Alvarez, so I'd be sad if they traded him.) But yes, everyone else can go.
  16. I think the Mets are hoping he forgot to get on the plane from Chicago.
  17. I remember that time we won a game! That was fun.
  18. Why even have Williams out there? Just let Tyrone Taylor pitch at this point. Nothing matters.
  19. I mean, they can't lose again, right?
  20. I agree with this. Stearns has handed Mendoza a limp turd to work with. You have a virtually unlimited budget, but Tommy Pham, Tyrone Taylor, and Craig Kimbrel are playing important spots? Come on. (And I shouldn't even knock Kimbrel, because except for the 10th inning Sunday, he's been okay.)
  21. I think if anything, maybe Mauricio needs an extended look. I feel like the Baty/Vientos experiment has runs its course.
  22. Looks like a few former Mets in the hopper with Anthony Banda and Eric Orze in the bullpen, too.
  23. Weird to think that Frankie Montas would be the third-best starter on a $380M team right now.
