For better or worse, the thing we'll remember above everything is the pitching stance. Was weird to see it in a Mets uniform after so many years in Atlanta; dude made mincemeat out of our hitters for a long time. I thought there was no way he'd make the team when they signed him, then figured he'd spend a few weeks in Syracuse before opting out like so many vets stuck in AAA do. Turned out he lasted a lot longer on the active roster than any of us would have expected (or hoped).

Fri 5/22, 7:10 pm: Tobias Myers vs Eury Perez Perez is the wunderkind, just 23 years old, throwing hard and having no idea where the ball is going. He’s 2-6 for a reason. 0-3, 10.00 ERA in three starts against the Mets. It's also Naruto Night, with special ticket package holders receiving horrendous orange Naruto-inspired jerseys. Sat 5/23, 4:10 pm: Freddy Peralta vs Max Meyer Meyer is their sort-of #2 (we’ll miss Alcantara, who pitched last night) with a 2.85 ERA. He’s 27 and he’s never thrown more than 111 innings in a season, at any level, and he’s already halfway there. 1-1, 3.48 career against the Mets. It's also Cuban Heritage Night, featuring Livan Hernandez pins. Sun 5/24, 1:40 pm: Christian Scott vs ? Braxton Garrett was in this spot in the rotation, but was sent down. Thankfully, the first 5,000 fans (like they'll get that many! heyoooooooo) receive color-changing Marlins cups. Guys to know: 2B Xavier Edwards - Speedy on-base machine. Seven-game hitting streak. SS Otto Lopez - Carrying my fantasy team, leading the NL in hits and BA. C/1B Liam Hicks - Somehow leading the NL in RBI? Everyone else in the lineup is pretty much meh. They can run, but are otherwise MLB-average offensively in most categories. Pete Fairbanks, the big free agent RP, is their closer. He’s somehow been worse than Williams on Williams’ worst days, with an ERA of 9.00. Just came back from the IL. They're managed by a guy named Clayton McCullough. If you gave me a thousand guesses, I wouldn't have gotten that right. Former Mets on the roster: None. Went to back-to-back games there several years ago, one with the roof closed where it felt like an airplane hangar, and one with it open where it was absolutely gorgeous. There are a series of guys from those post-86 years when I was playing a lot of Micro League Baseball on the C64, and I would create these "prospects" regardless of whether they were actual prospects, with stats based on whatever I could find. Torve was one of those guys who I "called up" and he had a phenomenal season, because all I knew was that the dude was a .300 hitter in AAA. Same with Lou Thornton; he stole 100 bases for me one season. I still have a soft spot for Julio Machado, who was a Micro League bullpen mainstay long before he murdered somebody.
