  1. Right, but what if that one more reliever is younger than Bartolo Colon, can routinely hit 40 mph (sidearm!) on the inflatable radar gun game at our AAA ballpark, and had a career 0.00 Little League ERA? I'M READY, STEARNS. CALL ME.
  2. But hey, we've got Austin Slater and Eric Wagaman BOTH on the active roster now, which is the kind of roster that David Stearns fantasized about when he took this job, so LET'S GO BABY
  3. Nats: Wood RF Garcia 1B Lile LF Abrams SS Tena DH Vivas 3B Nunez 2B Millas C Young CF Miles Mikolas pitching. Mikolas has an ERA of 8.49 this year and has a WHIP of nearly 2, which means he will pitch no less than six scoreless innings today, striking out seven.
  4. Bichette 3B Soto DH Melendez LF Vientos 1B Baty RF Semien 2B Benge CF Torrens C Mauricio SS
  5. What, and I say this with no due respect, the fuck.
  6. Carl Edwards pitched in three games, throwing six innings and striking out 11. His reward? A DFA today. Are you FUCKING kidding me, Mets? Holy shit.
  7. I've actually always wondered about that too. You're yeeting these guys from wherever the S-Mets are playing, squinching them into a seat on the first available JetBlue flight, and saying "hey, bail out Sean Manaea tonight when he walks six guys in the fourth inning." It feels like a lot. But I suppose they *did* sign up for this dream, and if Stearns called me right now and was like "hey, you're pitching the sixth inning tonight," I'd be on my way to the airport in about 30 seconds.
  8. Oh, I guess this should go here too: I think you have to cut bait on all three of them. Peterson is 30 and he isn't going to get better, and his $8M is not such a salary hit that it kills you. Manaea's $19mx2 is worse, admittedly, but he's shot. Senga's at $14M this year and next. Call up Tong and let him learn on the job like Benge. The rotation becomes Peralta/McLean/Holmes/Tong and Scott, I guess? Edwards is a starter too, but he's 34 and not a future piece. You could use Myers as a #5 if you want Tong or Scott to simmer in Syracuse, but I see no reason to do that at this point.
  9. I think you have to cut bait on both of them. Peterson is 30 and isn't going to get better, and his $8M is not such a salary hit that it kills you. Manaea's $25mx2 is worse, admittedly, but he's shot.
  10. If you told me in mid-March that MJ Melendez would our #3 hitter and Carl Edwards Jr. would be the best pitcher on our team, I'd have said "I bet we are pretty solidly in last place."
  11. Who's our emergency middle infielder who will pitch the 9th?
  12. Or not.
  13. Let's make this the Tyrone Taylor Game, kid.
  14. Inconceivable!
  15. Okay that was fuckin weird because it was 1-0 when I got into the car, and 8-0 when I checked my phone when I got home. 1-0 was one thing, bur now this is going to be a soul-crushing loss.
  16. I have enjoyed having Senga around, but ultimately, he's better off NOT pitching for us right now. So this is a good thing. And Christian Scott can only be sharper next time around.
  17. I look forward to rhyming Wagaman with Magadan when we bring back the Song Parody Contest this off-season.
  18. But what's crazy is that you KNOW he's going to get DFAed later this week in order for us to add some random fifth-string outfielder to the active roster, and he's going to go sign with the Tigers or whoever and be a key part of their bullpen the rest of the year.
  19. Probably because he's only thrown 30 innings in the past seven years.
  20. .210/.298/.305 over 120 K in 400 PA with six different teams over the past three years. Cool. Can't wait until he gets DFAed in a few days too.
  21. Well, whoever replaces him can't possibly be worse right now, so there's that.
  22. Pham being DFAed, sez the internet.
  23. I don't know why I have to keep repeating myself, but RELEASE THE WHOLE DAMN TEAM AND START OVER. Except Carl Edwards, Jr., apparently, who is now our ace.
  24. 13 runs and 11 walks in 17 AAA innings. I already trust him more than Devin Williams.
  25. The complete list of Rockies I Could Have Said "Yes, He's Definitely An MLB Player" to before looking at their active roster: Willi Castro (he's on my fantasy team) Ezequiel Tovar Tomoyuki Sugano Michael Lorenzen Jose Quintana Chase Dollander Antonio Senzatela
