  1. Guys Who'd You Have to Try Really Hard to Root for Even in a Mets Uni But Who'd Probably Be Available For a Song: Teixera That's the guy who caught my eye too. I don't know, though.

  3. Zvon wrote: Wilmer could step up and be big purple big. WILMER[/bigpurple] (Yep, we've still got it in the new place.)
  4. Wilmer.
  5. TransMonk wrote: My interest in Jonathan Lucroy was high with d'Arnaud being out, but it has skyrocketed now. He has experience at first and wants to be dealt to a contender. I think he still has another year on his current deal in Milwaukee and I'm guessing he would cost more than unknown talent in return. I'm with Edgy that we have some internal options to try and it's way to early to get desperate (especially if Duda and d'Arnaud are full strength by the break), but if I'm Sandy, I'm at least finding out what the Brewers would be interested in should push come to shove down the line. Would Plawecki and a pitching prospect be enough? Maybe.
  6. I'm not a comic guy either, but MW is ten, so he figured it was time to start watching some Marvel movies. We dug it. Airport scene was totally worth the price of admission, but the story was meh.

  8. That set was a horrible disappointment.
  9. Zvon wrote: Why no Conforto? Gah! Don't tell me. I'm afraid to know. He was eaten by a tiger this morning.

  11. All of those names are stupid.
  12. Zvon wrote: I smell a rookie card!
  13. That's awesome, Mole. I had assumed the same that you did.
  14. Great job, guys!
  15. New home, new update: Majors: Koehler (Miami): 2-3, 5.83. Faces the Nats tonight, SO YOU'RE ALL ROOTING FOR HIM, FUCKERS. Tropeano (Angels): 1-2, 3.69 in six starts. Faces the Mariners tonight. Jankowski (San Diego): 5-20 with five walks for a .400 OBP. Let him play, Padres. Minors: Cantwell (AAA Texas): .328/.379/.344 in 61 AB. He's gonna get the call at some point. Tissenbaum (A+ Miami): 1 for 13 in three games, now injured. Zamora (A Pittsburgh): 2-0, 1.04 ERA in 17 1/3 innings. 7 BB, 19 K. Heckuva start. Krause (A Pittsburgh): Still recovering from TJ surgery. MacEachern (A- Miami): Season hasn't started yet.

  17. Edgy MD wrote: Um, sorry, guys. I need to revise this kwiz. I'm hoping you have to revise it a lot this season.
  18. Zvon wrote: So Opening Day has a second series? This makes no sense to me. I thought it was a little set to celebrate the opening of the season, a one off. I think that's a bit much having more than one series of OD. I'm afraid they are watering it all down in a way, all the different types of cards. But, if we buy 'em, they will sell them. That was the big hurdle for the tNOW card. I don't want to support that type of thing in the hobby (I bet this also crossed your mind Seawolf). But when it comes to the Mets I go a little nutty sometimes and caught up in the glow from that HR I had to have that Mets card. Now these cards pictured- I love em all! But I have to step back and say, wait a minute. Variations, parallels, cards w/a lil glow highlight that you can barely see (if you bother to look 4 it),...things are getting out of hand. At least at 2 to 3 bucks a pack. And after all that it's going to be soooo hard not to get an OD blister next time in Target. I can only hope they have none in stock. No, OD has variations, not a second series. It's just as you described -- their lowest-end set. I'm figuring there's going to be another Colon HR card somewhere in 2017 Topps. I'll grab it then.

  20. But it's odd to see Matt Reynolds and Reuben Tejada in there -- both with a variation card, to boot -- and not Wright or Cespedes. I didn't even know there were variations in OD; looked them up, and all three Mets ones are interesting. The Tejada is a broken-leg variation: The Reynolds has him wearing #56, while the base has him wearing #55: And the Syndergaard includes a bullpen catcher card debut:
  21. Ooh, I hate that Stadium Club design. The photos are so good in that set, though.

But someone remind me that I said I can't get too into this limited shit when it comes in the mail next week and I get all excited. Will you have an extra? I'm hesitant to spend ten bucks on one card. I should have one but I can't commit until I run it by my nephew. He was conditioned to be a Mets fan at birth. Well, I'll definitely send you the money for it if it's available (or we can work it into whatever card trade we'll eventually do) because I'm mad at myself for not just buying one.
