  1. [bLOCKQUOTE]Hate the ghost runner. Even when it helps the Mets win I hate it. It's so phony and arbitrary.[/bLOCKQUOTE] Agree 100% with this sentiment. I used to love the occasional 16- or 18-inning games. There was something odd and quirky about it, like NHL playoff games that run 5OTs or such.

Rough start for Dom: 0/10 with 5 K's through 2+ games.
  5. Vientos not exactly busting it out of the box there. I fear an Alvarez-like (Alvarezian?) regression this year from #27.
  6. If it were the opposite (Mets at home), I'd have counted Holmes ahead of Soto, since he would've participated first, lineups be damned.
  7. 1. What will the Mets' record be? 84-78 2. Predict the NL East standings from 1 to 5: Phillies Mets Braves Nats Marlins 3. Will the Mets make the playoffs (if so, as the division champ or 1st, 2nd, or 3rd WC)? 1st WC 4. If so, how far will they go? - NL Championship 5. Who will be the World Champion? - Dodgers 6. 9. Alex Trevino behind the dish.
  10. Never a good sign when you need to reassure diners that the stadium food is "government inspected."
  11. One year and under $5M? Shit that would've been worth bringing him back for sure. Rotation depth and all.
  12. My brother and I once laughed uproariously when Phil Rizzuto said that "Dennis Eckersley needs a haircut, or a permanent." Not sure I had ever before, and never since, heard someone use the full word for a perm.
  13. I like how the primary player position is depicted on the diamond.
  14. [bLOCKQUOTE]SS - Paul DeJong -- 31 y/o SS with pop (24 HRs in '24) and a glove but a sub-.300 career OBP. And, no, the Mets shouldn't sign him just so we won't have to face him.[/bLOCKQUOTE] PDJ to the Nats, one year, $1M. I'd have rather given that to him than face him 18 times this season.
  15. But if SD is one of those five teams vying for four spots, do they shop Cease as the season progresses and the backlash of a white flag surrender increases? A full season of Senga helps but I think this staff is worse than 24 and adding a proven arm like Cease, now, is prudent.
  16. Paul Blackburn. Because why not.
  17. Pham's catching up to former Met Octavio Dotel --this is like his ninth team, and he'll probably be traded again at the deadline.
  18. Thought the Mets overpaid with a one year, $10M contract but his first half made me a fan. Loved the hustle, and his unabashed Judaism--going so far to wear an embroidered Star of David on his belt--at a time when so many people needed signs like that. I'll miss him and wish him well in the Twin Cities. Was at that Sunday game against SF, and man was it electric!
  19. Todd Hundley.
  20. I live very close to Citi (and even closer to UBS Arena, where tix for this Tuesday night's game are going for $7 on SeatGeek). So I will uber back and forth, thus saving the $40 parking fee (RT is about $25). I use third party resellers platform to get tix and can usually get decent ones on the day of game for about $40-$60 each. What kills me is concessions, especially beers ($18). But if you can bring food (and I thought that was verbotten) and switch to non-alcoholic beverages, you can do a day at the park with your kids (2) for about $250-300.
  21. I thought that Kevin Parada © was a hot ticket. What happened to him?
  22. If they opt for Profar it means the end of OMG, yes?
  23. I went to one (two?) noon starts this year and really really liked it. Wish they had some of those in 25.
  24. Two interesting (to me) things about that yearbook: 1. They spell his name without the E 2. They don't list his membership on the team for the sport in which he would eventually be enshrined in the HoF
  25. Upon Willie Mays' passing this summer, RH was among a few who could vie for the title of "greatest living ballplayer" Sadly that was a short tenure, if indeed he held the crown.
