  1. For all the talk about how much emphasis they would place on defense this year, we are looking at two infielders playing our of position (Polanco at first and Bichette at third) and LF may be handed to Baty.
  2. Dodgers strike again. mother****er
  3. Reports now saying offer made with an AAV of $50M which equates to 3/150
  4. I have no idea how these things work but when the backup C is within a 125K of the starter it seems odd. Congratulations on the paydays, fellas.
  5. I coulda swore Boisclair was #4. Gotta be Kong for 26.
  6. Choked up on a bat without a knob and I thought he could win a batting title with a fence post in his hands. Reminded me of the player from the days of yore (Ty Cobb?) who once changed his approach mid-series to prove that he could hit homeruns like Babe Ruth only to then return to the slap-hitting title-winning champ he was. Never liked the red-assery and came of like a Paul O'Neill type too much for my taste but I loved his defensive versatility and think he must've been one helluva high school athlete. Enjoy golfing in Sacramento, Jeff.
  7. I'd prefer Jackson Merrill to Laureano, but so would anyone with eyes. Wonder what it would take to pry him away from Sandy Eggo?
  8. Chris Davis, Part II for Balmer. I really really wanted him to retire a Met but 5/155 is steep.
  9. Thank you and congrats on a seamless transition. Much appreciated!
  10. And just like that, mlbrtaderumors.com suggests the Twins will keep Joe Ryan AND Bryan Buxton.... I for one, would've welcomed them both.
  11. Whoever voted for Utley should have their CPF membership revoked!
  12. They have to wait until a trip to Arlington in September (22-24) to see their old teammate.
  13. I remember Montes de Oca as being absolutely huge. He was like 6'9" or something if I recall. I thought he would be a bullpen power arm.
  14. [bLOCKQUOTE]The thread works like this — I ask you "Who is the Tom Seaver of ... [insert a certain professional field here]?" You answer and provide at least some explanation of your thinking[/bLOCKQUOTE] The last question was who is the TS of SNL cast members/featured performers? I'll go with....Colin Jost. Why? Good looking and smart guy with a wife who grabs headlines away from him. Or adds to them, I dunno? Who is the Tom Seaver of James Bond henchmen?
  15. Sorry but NOBODY had a cannon like Shawon Dunston.
  16. Craziest Mets: 1. Carl Everett 2. Lenny Randle
  17. I once read a book that characterized umpires into three categories: 1. "Some pitches are balls, and some pitches are strikes and I call 'em as I see 'em." 2. "Some pitches are balls, and some pitches are strikes and I call them as they is." 3. "Some pitches are balls, and some pitches are strikes...but they ain't neither till I call them." Obnoxious bullies fall into the third category. This system replaces 1 and 3 with 2. That's Good.
  18. I'm friends of a friend with Angels C Logan O'Hoppe, a Long Island kid and really great guy. Glad to see he's getting some recognition and I hope lots of votes.
  19. In Atlanta for July 3 and Independence Day---maybe another rain-delayed, 18-inning marathon like 1985!
  20. My pick for dark horse of the year. Derided by some as his having a proven track record and therefore ineligible for consideration. I guess we’re both wrong
  21. I can get behind the ATHLETIC realignment scheme better than the others that have been proposed. But boy do I miss twilight doubleheaders, no DH, and 18 inning marathon games.
  22. Tigers went all in. Seven trades and added quite a few arms (Sewald, Montero, Finnegan, Paddack Morton).
