  1. I read somewhere not too long ago that if all games were eight innings (maybe it was seven?) the Pirates would have the best record in baseball, such is the horror of their bullpen.
  2. Hope Joey Bart didnt unpack his bags in Atlanta.
  3. I think one way of looking at the Peralta trade is to compare what we gave to Milwaukee to what we got from Tampa. Are Sproat and Williams better than yesterday's haul? I would've preferred we loaded up on arms rather than infielders. Maybe its just me but i think the likelihood of one of the pitchers making it is greater--and the shuttle from AAA to CitiField certainly bears that out. I like the return from Chicago (N) and Pittsburgh but am having a hard time getting excited about any of these guys. I suppose they are additions to the Baty/Vientos/Mauricio carousel. Brazoban was a personal favorite--reminded me a lot of Jose Butto whom I thought we'd miss....so maybe HB will be equally forgettable.
  4. Cant expect much more for a guy who is FA in three months time. Amick is closer to the bigs with legit college pedigree. IMO he could be another option to Vientos/Baty/Mauricio. Bruin is a lottery ticket.
  5. Its Canada Day---lets ruin the holiday for the home fans.
  6. A month too late. Should've happened after that disastrous LAD-CHI roadtrip. I take no joy in someone losing their job but man this was long overdo
  7. As Ron Darling said yesterday, everyone from top to bottom has to be on notice now--this team is embarrassing. Six infield errors in one day. Jeez
  8. Decided to go at the last minute and snagged a seat for $5---and proceeded to watch the game from the concourse where there was some shade. Enjoyable day at the park. Very sparse crowd, no lines at concession stands and the good guys won.
  9. Was there with my daughter. Very windy and chilly for late May but it warmed up as the day wore on. Bobby V sure can talk---sheesh his remarks were lengthy. Saw Steve Phillips walking around the concourse and almost asked him his thoughts on the way this team is constructed. Running into outs on the basepaths is not good. A homerun from your backup catcher is.
  10. This team is putrid. Mental blunders like not backing up throws to the plate are inexcusable.
  11. Fantastic. 1, 4 ,6,and 10 are no-brainers and should be done immediately.
  12. Present and appreciative of the work that got us here.
  13. Gary Sheffield, Marlins?
  14. As the poster who first proposed Willets Point, I still like it best. And not for nothing but Mets Grand Central feels/sounds better than Grand Central Mets to my ears.
  15. Is there a problem (trademark?) with using the Mets script?
  16. In a nod to an old poster, Willets Point Mets?
  17. Canha signed with Texas. I always like Tommy Pham and think Joey Lucchessi was badly under-utilized by the Mets.
  18. Mark Canha gets to sample the cuisine in Texas, inking a minor-league dealio with the Rangers.
  19. Bat Soto leadoff---he has the OBP and the ability to steal bases, and you want your best hitter to get the most at-bats. I saw the Mets social media posts, where the players hold cute chalkboards like they are kindergartners, this week. Vientos listed 1B/3B as his positions, and I think we see more of him at first than we'd like. Williams has to close, and he has to perform well.
  20. Verlander (back) to the Tigers. Thats a formidable rotation in Detroit!
