  1. Let's hope he doesn't wind up in a hospital.
  2. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Question for those of you who've joined in the last few years: How'd you find us? A tip from someone inviting me over from another even more secret, dark and incestuous Met board.
  3. Pat Strange, Bob Friend and Jack Fisher.
  4. Wow, Thorogood knows his stuff. Talking baseball in a bar for hours with Hernandez, well, I could die a happy man after that.
  5. I'm just hoping Havens doesn't get injured by a cactus.
  6. Paulino's gone. He took the second half off, so nobody will notice.

  8. Cards. Although I hope Yadier F. Molina goes 0-20.
  9. If your friend is monumentally stupid, yet thinks you have a really cool car, perhaps you might want to get rid of said car.
  10. Bunting isn't THAT bad a play if you can get the bunt down reliably. If there's a trace of doubt, swing away. I do think this team semi-quit about two weeks ago. Terry fired them up one last time and they took two out of three from the Braves. But then they lapsed back into the coma. If Jerry Manuel were still here, he'd be laughing his way through press conferences with about 10 fewer wins (and 500 at bats for Lenny, I mean Willie Harris). Face it, this team was decimated; first through injuries, then through trades. I think on balance, Collins has gotten as much out of this team as anyone had a right to expect.
  11. At least someone's happy they're mailing it in.
  12. If I just hide, crouched in the lunchroom cabinet, I can end Jeffrey's reign of sandwich-stealing terror.
  13. Head Explosion Alert: Gary Cohen thinks that if there was ever a movie made about Bob Murphy, he (Cohen) should be played by Steve Buscemi.

Let them all battle to see who should be the closer next year and beyond. As for now, I'd give Acosta a few more shots to light a fire under Parnell's ass. Hold it there, this is NY , never admit to not being a contender the following year, we're New Yokers for fecks sake. Well, they're not going to come out and say it, but we all know it to be true.
  15. Well, the nice thing about a 27.00 ERA is that it'll probably go down at some point.

  17. I'm actually surprised the Yankees don't play it EVERY inning. I prefer 'America the Beautiful' as it's less overtly religious or militaristic than the others. I don't like patriotism forced on me. One of the bad legacies of 9/11 is that for a while there if you didn't stand at attention for every patriotic song you were viewed as un-American. I do not stand at attention nor do I take off my hat for God Bless America- in fact that's usually my bathroom break. I do stand for the National Anthem, because that's traditional and wasn't grafted on afterwards to prove we can sing louder than the terrorists.
  18. Ducks provide better insurance than pigeons.

Me, I see MC Escher drawings.
  20. Too busy watching all the offense.
  21. Stay there and keep drinking. You might be better off.

  23. My guess is that MLB has specially-tailored hats for the occasion. Something like a yellow ribbon and 9-11-01 on it. That's why they won't wear city agency hats. Just my guess, YMMV.
  24. From 2001-2010, the Mets had the second-highest number of rainouts in MLB with 28, trailing only the Red Sox, who had 31. By contrast, Florida had only 10. (MFY's had 24, if you must know.)
