  1. A .508 OPS. I didn't think that was possible. For comparison, Rey Ordonez' career OPS was .600.
  2. Guess I should have made that plural. Isn't there anyone at Buffalo, Binghamton or in the stands who can replace this guy?
  3. Time for the Jon Rauch late-inning cheap run.
  4. I'd just like to say that this year, Hairston is a fucking animal.
  5. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Boy, a lot of fatalistic loser talk in this thread already. Who here believes we can't score a few vs. this Cardinal bullpen? Well, the Cards will probably get two whacks at the Mets bullpen as well. Glad to see Lohse out of there, though.
  6. This has the smell of a late-inning bullpen gift to the Redbirds, though.
  7. I voted for Giant Foam Presidential Heads. But not the usual suspects; Dickey would make a good Chester Arthur. Bay, always crippled, could be FDR. Lucas Duda could be William H. Taft. Josh Satin, who could be optioned back to Buffalo while the train is moving, could be William Henry Harrison. Keith Hernandez, Civil War buff that he is, could be Ulysses S. Grant, taking nips of bourbon on the sly. And who doesn't see Josh Thole as Martin Van Buren?
  8. Could have become a ginger Mel Rojas if only they'd given him a chance.
  9. You know, I could get used to this.
  10. Rain comin'. How does Hefner do when it rains?
  11. Santana saying, "I got this".
  12. I tend to measure a player's relative worth by using MWTFG, or Me Watching The F*#$ing Games. I find it a reliable predictor. Your mileage, as always, may vary.
  13. FrankFrank in. Scotch at the ready.
  14. (Puts bottle of Scotch back in desk)
  15. (Reaches for the bottle of Scotch in his desk drawer)
  16. In a lineup with no hitters, and with first base open, why are they even pitching to McCutcheon? Inquiring minds want to know.
  17. Nieuwenhuis batting second. I hope they don't collide in the on-deck circle when one of them is swinging a bat.
  18. Terry strikes me as the kind of guy who, if it would help the team, would take daily cockpunches.
  19. I'm not fishing that suicidal toothbrush out of the toilet.
  20. On the plus side, his salads and dips have been absolutely delicious.
  21. It'd be pretty hard to get less out of this roster spot than what they've already gotten. I really wonder if it's the Valley Fever that's screwed him up, and he just needs to rest and start back up from scratch when it's out of his system.
  22. Every year I look at the Pirates and say, "How can they lose to a team like that?" Which is right before they go out and, ahem, lose to a team like that.
  23. I knew that was coming, but somehow, I couldn't look away.
  24. I think Valdespin goes first, Ike goes second. Duda goes to first, and Nieuwy goes to RF. Sorry Ike, .164 just doesn't cut it.
