I said no, the Mets were going to get swept. He looked at me oddly, with that Yankee fan way of being unable to comprehend that you expect your own team to lose. So on Monday morning, instead of being razzed, it was, "wow, you were right." Unless blood is on the line, you gotta take that bet every time. I throw down a lunch bet every Philly series with a my Chase-loving co-workers. Makes for good relations and stand-up fanhood. Mutual respect grows, and self-respect flourishes. Well, no. He's already acquired a condo in Palm Springs from our previous bets. Sometimes you have to draw the line.

The name is a simplification of "King's Port", originally referring to the area on the Holston River known as King's Boat Yard, the head of navigation for the Tennessee Valley. As for the fictitious Mr. Leger, I submit that it's actually Jerry Manuel surreptitiously trying to rebuild his managerial career.
  4. I saw one of these vintage games (playing 1868 rules) before a Somerset Patriots game a few years ago. It's fascinating how much the game has changed (players called for the kind of pitch they wanted, the 'home plate' umpire stood behind the pitcher and you could get the runner out by hitting him with a thrown baseball), and how much it's the same (9 players in the same positions, 90 feet to first, three outs, balls and strikes). Very interesting stuff.
  5. If it wasn't Rauch it would have been someone else. The Mets can't win a battle of the bullpens with any team, least of all the Yankees.
  6. Yanx are built for their park. Everyone's geared to uppercut. This is what they do.
  7. Rauch has to go. DFA. 60-day DL. Outright release. Mystery sniper from the balcony. He's gotta go.
  8. 3-0 is simply not enough with a phosphorus-coated bullpen in this shark tank.
  9. Wasn't going to go to the park next week, but hey, REO Speedwagon!
  10. The Captain has Leadership across all platforms.
  11. Between that and the incessant Jeter Leadership commercials for Ford, it's hard to believe it's a Mets telecast.
  12. Swisher: Shane Victorino, only dumber.
  13. They'll regret not adding on there.
  14. Did the Met station actually cover the gay 'roll call' on split screen? Is PIX angling to cover Yankme games in the future?
  15. Looks like they never did. They were too blinded by the Awesomeness of St. Jeter.
  16. Throw Ike in there, too.
  17. Jesus, Parnell. Anything that travels that far oughta have a stewardess on it.

  19. Oh my god, they're talking about the Coriolis Effect.
  20. MLB Fan Cave- a world-changing event. Take that, World War II. Buck just marking time until he can give Aikman big wet sloppy kisses now.
  21. Torres approaching Bay/Davis levels of usefulness.
