  1. Although no replacement has been named yet, we have a talented staff in place to handle all ticket related business while we embark on a national search for this role, the team said Sunday in a statement to The Post. And while you're at it, why don't you embark on a national search for a left fielder and shortstop? Because P.T. Barnum himself couldn't sell seats with this team right now. I'm guessing Curtis Granderson Bobblehead Night was the last straw.

  3. Ya know, if my cooler of Pepsi floats down the river, I'm gonna let it go....
  4. Is Gee screwing Howard's wife or something? Because, dayum.

  6. I've already named a couple of urinals at Citi after Bud Selig.
  7. The best part of this is that Herrera will be eligible for the postseason roster.
  8. It's an EXTREMELY difficult song to sing well. Everyone knows the words, but the vocal range between 'twilight's last gleaming' and 'land of the free' is enormous. It's an old drinking song, designed to trip up the inebriated.
  9. Prior to when Feliciano did his rendition, every other singer did it exactly like Robert Merrill. Feliciano treated it like a song. Seems tame now but it was blasphemous in 1968. Credit Tiger announcer Ernie Harwell for getting him invited to sing it at the Series.
  10. Let Soup play for a month and get some AB's. David can rest and let his supermodel wife massage his shoulder and neck for the rest of the year.

  12. Ouch. Wonder what that booth sounded like once they went to commercial. Josh handled it like a pro, though.
  13. He got the job due to Davis' ineptitude, and to his credit, he's run with it. Now that he's playing every day, he's putting up the numbers that none of us dared dream of. Just wish he'd go the other way once in a while, because that shift dooms him to being a .250 hitter. Of course, the shift becomes irrelevant when you put them 30 rows back in the bleachers.....
  14. Fred probably wants those two to roll cigars for him.

(He also had 2.0 in 2011, but only played 100 games that year). slash lines 2010 .283/.354/ .503 --- 131 (OPS+) 2014 .268/326/.371 --- 100 (ops) I don't see how his 2010 WAR (WAR rate really) could be worse than this year's. Wright even received some MVP voting in 2010. Must be the shady and mysterious defensive part of the WAR that's boosting his 2014 WAR rate to the point that you could suggest that 2010 is his worst season. And even so, his past WAR's are irrelevant to the claim that he's one of baseball's worst third baseman this year. Among the 24 qualified third baseman, Wright ranks 14th in AVG., 18th in OBP, 21st in SLG., 20th in OPS, and 21st in RC27. We're less than two weeks away from Labor Day and he's still on pace to hit just 10 HR's. You think this isn't his worst season? He's playing hurt, won't admit it and will continue to be in the lineup because he's a gamer. Even though the games are meaningless and he needs to get healthy for next year. Worst season? Without a doubt.
  16. If Mr. and Mrs. Met are both working on Sundays, who's watching the kids? Grandma Met?
  17. In the early 90's, went to a Norfolk Tides game where they were giving out single-wash packets of Tide powder, which we were pretty impressed by. Not as fun as gallons of liquid, though.
  18. Well, there's the two that the A's needed.
  19. A week's worth of hitting in an inning. Egads.
  20. Dunno, have kind of a 'Hindenberg-approaching-the-mooring-tower' feel about this one.
  21. Well, it's got to be better than batting Granderson leadoff.
  22. One or two bats won't be enough. This team has across the board deficiencies in situational hitting. It hasn't had a real lead off hitter since 2011. It has no power, very little speed and poor game management. This team is only less than 20 games under .500 by virtue of its pitching. The hitting is atrocious and won't be better next year without a Roto-rostering.
  23. Sheesh. It's like the whole freaking team has gone to sleep. Everyone's in a slump simultaneously. Frankly, there's nothing Terry can do when all his options suck. Maybe they can activate deGrom early and put him in the lineup. I can't think of anything else that'd work.
  24. I'm rooting very hard for Derek Jeter to play empty, meaningless games in late September. The kind that he's forced to play in because the fans demand their last look at the myth, the legend, the Ford Edge spokesman.
  25. Oh girl, I'm just a Jeep Store for your love.
