  1. Good stuff, Edgy.
  2. Seriously, Jeopardy? The Cateogry is "Talking Front Office Baseball" https://twitter.com/BrianWright86/status/1313621372497788928/photo/1https://twitter.com/BrianWright86/status/1313621372497788928/photo/1 $200, not revealed; $400, above; $600, Jeter; $800, Atlanta Braves; $1000, Branch Rickey
  3. A Yankees-Astros AL Finals would be just perfect for 2020.
  4. Do we have to vote in person or can we mail our ballots? I hope that there is no voter supression at work here, too!
  5. Why does Fox insist on having the fake crowd noise that loud? A real crowd wouldn't be that loud. We're not going to forget that there isn't anyone there with or without the artificial noise.
  6. CB Bucknor and Angel Hernandez continue to find work: https://twitter.com/Feinsand/status/1313136630518231045/photo/1https://twitter.com/Feinsand/status/1313136630518231045/photo/1
  7. Who do you want to win, if you still care? Rays v. MFY: obvious. Cheaters v. the team that didn't deserve to win the '73 World Series: A's. SD v LA: SD, unless there are members of the John Birch Society still on SD. Mia v ATL: UGH!!!
  8. First of all, these rankings are nuts: https://www.mlb.com/news/ranking-2020-world-series-matchupshttps://www.mlb.com/news/ranking-2020-world-series-matchups My preference is his #7, Rays v Padres. MFY v Rays is in SD and at night. Cheaters v Athletics in LA (not in Houston) in the afternoon. Braves v Marlins in Houston in the afternoon Dodgers v Padres in Arlington, TX (not in LA) and at night. 9. Goodbye Francisco, you showboating bastard. I'm sure that Ronnie is weeping after all of the praise he gave you. Go pump your fist into your face.
  10. No Central Division teams survive: ALDS (AL East): Yankees-Rays ALDS (AL West): Astros-Athletics NLDS (NL East): Marlins-Braves NLDS (NL West): Padres-Dodgers
  11. My 1st Round Prefernces were MIL, CIN, CHI and SD so 1 for 4.
  12. Watching Central and West teams is novel for us in 2020. Other than STL, we haven't seen any of these teams play the Mets this year (I'm including Spring Training). SD is impressive. Let's wish them success tonight against STL.
  13. https://twitter.com/Jeopardy/status/1311855924659789824https://twitter.com/Jeopardy/status/1311855924659789824
  14. The Braves advance against the flaccid Reds. Crap.
  15. You need a catcher or the ball won't stop, or something like that. Who will be the Opening Day catcher for the Mets in 2021? Wilson Ramos had a terrible season. The Mets have an option on retaining his services but I doubt that will happen. Tomas Nido is then the next option. Here are the Free Agents: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/09/previewing-the-2020-21-free-agent-class-catchers.htmlhttps://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/09/previewing-the-2020-21-free-agent-class-catchers.html Obviously, J.T. Realmuto is the best choice and might be the best FA at any position. If Steve Cohen is confirmed as the owner the Mets will have the money to sign him but what if he wants 7 or 8 years and Sandy advises Mr. Cohen that Realmuto will be 30 in March, 2021 so that's not a good investment? What if Realmuto simply doesn't want the honor and glory of being a New York Met or he gets a better offer? None of those are great choices. Russell Martin was a FA for 2020 but didn't play anywhere so perhaps he's an option.
  16. Excellent point MFS62. Jeter+Mattingly v. DT Loving Ricketts family (most of them) is still tough but Anthony Rizzo is a good guy so yes, Cubs.
  17. I'm talking about on the field, not spiritually ("just that there was Mets baseball") or off-the-field ("that the Wilpon Era is almost over"): 1--Jacob deGrom is still the best pitcher in baseball. 2--Edwin Diaz is either really good or at least had a good few weeks to hopefully build from (although the HR against the MFYs still stings). 3--Robinson Cano can still rake (2 and 3 don't mean that you're off-the-hook for the Kelenick trade, Brodie) 4--David Peterson. Who knew? He's locked into the 2021 rotation. 5--Andres Giminez. The starting SS on Opening Day for 2021. Sorry, Amed. 6--Dom. 1B, LF, DH, it doesn't matter as there are DomBombs and Dombles galore. Plus, he's a fine person and I'm happy that he's a Met. 7--The emergence of Michael Conforto as a star. What else?
  18. Are there any rooting interests in these games? TOR and TB both seem OK; Reinsdorf is an asshole but the Athletics won the '73 WS; Minnesota, obviously; Cleveland, obviously. So, ???, ???, MIN, CLE.
  19. Are there any rooting interests in these games? The Brewers have cool unis and aren't the Dodgers; the Reds aren't the Braves; the Cubs aren't the Marlins but the Marlins aren't the Cubs so that's a tough one; the Padres aren't the Cardinals. So: MIL, CIN, ugh, SD.
  20. At the Phillies missed the playoffs with a '07/'08-worthy collapse.
  21. Lugo has made his case for returning to the bullpen.
  22. It starts at 3:05 because every game today starts at 3:05 (unless you're in different time zone but you know what I mean). The battle for 4th place and the battle of starters with 4 letters in their last name. If WSH wins they finish in a 4th place tie with the Mets. If the Mets win, they finish alone in 4th and WSH finishes in last so that's something. Seth Lugo makes another/his final start (depending on what the new front office decides) (RHP, 3-3, 3.82) facing Austin Voth (RHP, 1-5, 6.25, who pitched a complete (7-inning) game in his last start, v. PHI, 1 ER, 3 H; he lost to the Mets on 8/13, 3 ER in 4 IP, that was the Thomas Nido game, Dom HR'd off Voth). Nationals fans continue to be whiney bitches. I had dinner with one last night (socially distanced, of course) who bemoaned the absence of a ceremony and called their title "historic". Fine, they did baseball a favor by defeating the Cheaters but shuddup already. They started complaining in March that HOU was receiving more press than they were (they share the same Spring facility) and continue in today's Washington Post: [bLOCKQUOTE]Nationals fans are very protective of the 2019 title. That they couldn't bathe in it — or give the team a hero's welcome — was widely considered the worst part of the year. They are hoping the club bumps the celebration to next spring, even if it will feel different and a bit forced. https://www.washingtonpost.com/road-to-recovery/2020/09/27/washington-nationals-fans-world-series-season/#comments-wrapperhttps://www.washingtonpost.com/road-to-recovery/2020/09/27/washington-nationals-fans-world-series-season/#comments-wrapper[/bLOCKQUOTE] "Bathe in it." Vomit in it, please. "Worst part of the year." Yeah, that's the worst thing about 2020. And shuddup already, you won. You got Strasburg's inevitable injury over with in a short season, you learned where you have to improve, you're likely getting a Top 10 draft pick, almost everyone is happy you won because you beat the Cheaters, just enjoy it but no, they can't let the inferiority complex that all Washingtonians have overcome their victory. And this means that if fans are allowed in the AA-ballpark in Washington on April 1, 2021, the Mets will have to be there while the 2019 World Series Flag is raised for a second time so these pathetic, know-nothing, front-runners, can say that it happened in front of the fans. Bite me. Anyway, this gave me 10 minutes not to think about the Supreme Court and directed my anger elsewhere so here's to a Mets win today because beating those bastards is never meaningless.
  23. If 1 or 2 of you are interested in a free 30-day trial to The Athletic PM me and I'll send you a link.
  24. Sit down and shuddup, Soto.
  25. =G-Fafif post_id=47478 time=1601117494 user_id=55] Padres fended off Giants, despite Wilmer Flores HR. We're still stupidly alive.
