  1. He built a new ballpark for the Mets and it was designed as a shrine to the Brooklyn Dodgers without having a Mets Hall of Fame or Mets colors.
  2. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Yes! I'm a little out of practice and forgot to check the box that allows for vote changing. It's now been checked. We DO apologize for any inconvenience. But do you also say "we thank you for your patience"?
  3. Aside from things written by friends my completionist self for Mets books ended some time ago. We'll see in March, 2022 when this book is released: "#LFGM: How Pete Alonso and the Mets Won the World Series and Brought New York City Back To Life", by Greg W. Prince.
  4. Tony LaRussa (76 years old) is the new manager of the White Sox. The guy that condoned McGwire and Canseco's cheating. The arrogant prick from the Cardinals. That asshole. From The Athletic: [bLOCKQUOTE]Nine years after he last managed and won a World Series with the Cardinals, and 34 years after he was fired midseason as White Sox manager, Tony La Russa is back to take up his old job, the White Sox announced Thursday.[/bLOCKQUOTE] The article speculates that this is a Reinsdorf move. That's two reasons in a short period of time for the White Sox, otherwise irrelevant to us as Mets fans, to be disliked.
  5. The first vote approving Cohen was 7-1. Speculation is that Jerry Reinsdorf was the lone "no". Perhaps he is upset that A. Rodriguez will not be the Mets owner: https://twitter.com/AROD/status/1216414391039479809https://twitter.com/AROD/status/1216414391039479809
  6. Live from Arlington, Texas, it's the 2020 World Series beginning Tuesday at 8:09 PM starring The Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays.
  7. Baseball continues to be the only sport which allows on-field meetings during the game (I'm not including football huddles) such as the type you mention. I didn't realize that it's :30 + :30. Fix that and then we can talk about other way to move it along.
  8. Game 7 tonight at 8:15 Eastern, with Some Guy stepping in for Joe Buck (it's only Game 7, it's not as important as any NFL game) and John "I know everything and I'm going to tell it all to you" Smoltz on FOX. 9. This is an important, scholarly, work from the real Mets Historian, not the empty suit that the media fawns over.
  10. True. They add :30 seconds of commercial time between innings (and perhaps during pitching changes). If you eliminated those :30 and another :30 you could make some progress on shortening the games. Before you say, "there's no way they will accept losing money from commercials" there are other ways to hit us with ads, such as those quick split screen ads or the square around the game you can see during Premier League matches.
  11. By current standards, last night's games were completed in a crisp 3:20 and a crisp 3:14.
  12. If LA wins, Game 7 is tomorrow but apparently Joe Buck will not be there as he has to do the NFL (GB @ TB, Rodgers and Brady, going to about half the country: https://506sports.com/nfl.php?yr=2020&wk=6https://506sports.com/nfl.php?yr=2020&wk=6). If I ran MLB, I would insist on FOX using their #1 announcers for every game of the Championship Series but apparently MLB does not make this a condition of their deal. In contrast, Buck and Aikman are required to call every Thursday NFL game even if it's on the NFL Network.
  13. Frayed Knot wrote: I may not have the count exactly correct, but I believe each pitching has made 14 visits to the mound so far. And that might have a connection to why it's taken an hour and a half to get to the top of the 4th. 3-1 Astros as I type. Five pitchers have been used so far. 4 hours and one minute (the NL game went 3:45). This is insane. The games might be great and it's not like we're going anywhere these days but The Game has to be fixed. Mound visits, commercials, warmup pitches, stepping in/stepping out, walking off and around the mound--none of those contribute to why we watch and love baseball. (Warmup pitches: it's the same damn mound in the bullpen, just get on the mound throw 3 more, and go. It's not like olden times when the bullpen mound was crap.)
  14. For the second year in a row, Clayton Kershaw fails in a must-win game. For the second year in a row, Dave Roberts leaves Kershaw in too long (loyalty? stupidity? lack of confidence in his bullpen?) and it hurts his team. If LAD departs in this round, I wonder if the big money owners will make a managerial change. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=kershcl01&t=p&post=1https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=kershcl01&t=p&post=1
  15. The part of the Post article about the advanced technology that other teams bought but the Mets were only table to rent for a day was maddening.
  16. Outstanding work by Mark Melancon responding to a moronic question: https://twitter.com/Jared_Carrabis/status/1316220388448317441https://twitter.com/Jared_Carrabis/status/1316220388448317441

  18. I still haven't survived WSH winning the WS. A local friend recently described their championship as "historic" and I couldn't strangle him because we were more than 6 feet apart.
  19. It's the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS with all games in Arlington, TX. You can see it on FOX which means that Joe Buck might call his first baseball game of the year if it fits into his NFL schedule. Game 1 is Monday at 8:08 PM. 20. It's the Tampa Bay Rays and the Houston Astros in the ALCS from Petco Park in SD. All games will be on TBS which means Ronnie with someone that isn't Gary Cohen. Game 1 is Sunday night at 7:37 PM. I think that I can safely say for all of us: GO RAYS! ALCS on TBS Broadcast Schedule TBS Studio shows airs 30 minutes before/after game Game 1: Sunday, October 11, Astros at Rays, TBS 7:30 p.m. Game 2: Monday, October 12, Astros at Rays, TBS 4 p.m. Game 3: Tuesday, October 13, Rays at Astros, TBS TBA Game 4: Wednesday, October 14, Rays at Astros, TBS TBA Game 5: Thursday, October 15, Rays at Astros, TBS TBA* Game 6: Friday, October 16, Astros at Rays, TBS TBA* Game 7: Saturday, October 17, Astros at Rays, TBS TBA* *if necessary TBS Broadcast Talent Brian Anderson, Ron Darling, Jeff Francouer & Lauren Shehadi TBS Studio Ernie Johnson, Curtis Granderson, Pedro Martinez, Jimmy Rollins Streaming: TBS.com, TBS app, MLB.tv ESPN Radio: Dan Shulman, Chris Singleton
  21. Tampa saves us from The Cheaters and The MFYs. I'm all-in on Tampa the rest of the way.
  22. That was a fantastic catch, especially b/c Bellinger mostly plays 1B. The reaction of the pitcher was... amusing? strange?... as he threw his glove with glee and then Machado clearly yelled "FANGOOO", or something like that, at the pitcher. https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/2036255?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitterhttps://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/2036255?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
  23. The Rays are one game away from doing us a favor by ridding us of the MFYs and the possibility of a NYY-HOU ALCS. The Rays will have Ryan Thompson as the "opener", NOT THAT RYAN THOMPSON, he wears #81, against Jordan Montgomery who looked great against the Mets but few other teams.
  24. You're making a good argument for the Mets pursuing of Connecticut's own George Springer.
