I don't think the AL/NL imbalance is as strong as last year. Personally, I think the AL Central is overrated. Cleveland and Detroit are good teams, but the White Sox and Minnesota have not impressed me at all this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see that division boil down to the Indians and the Tigers as the others fade away. On the flipside, the disgrace that is the NL Central has definitely flipped some competition to the NL divisions on either coast. Atlanta is obviously better in the East and the NL West race looks like it could be a great race between 3 decent teams. The AL has Boston, which is far and away the best team in the league thus far, and they arguably have 4 of the best 5 teams in baseball. But the NL has 5 or 6 of the best 10 teams, IMO...which I would not have said about the NL at almost any point last year. As for the Mets, I'd like to see them play better against the better teams in the league (they are 8-8 against Arizona, Milwaukee and Atlanta), but the playoffs are a long way away and I don't believe this team has reached the level of play that they're capable of.

LoDuca: .372 AVG, .407 OBP over the past 30 days, both stats leading the team during that timeframe. It's a shame we have no logical place to put those numbers in the batting order with Alou out. Makes sense to keep Chavez at No. 2 with his speed and him having the 2nd best OBP and AVG on the team over that span...but LoDuca's numbers are seemingly wasted batting 6th. 4 hits tonight and no runs scored. Damn.

We're still a game better than we were at this time last year (tonight marks the anniversary of Beltran's 16th inning HR against the Phillies...my favorite game of 2006) in what has been tougher competition both in the league and in the division. Even with that being said I think the next 2 games against Atlanta are fairly important ones for the 2007 campaign. Winning games we look bad in doesn't matter if we can't beat ATL and they stay right with us in the standings.

The second interleague game ever was the following afternoon between the Cubs and Brewers. Jeff D'Amico pitched for the Brewers and Brian McRae led off for the Cubs. I almost chose that matchup until I realized the game was in Chicago. Gerald Williams led off for the Brewers, but Terry Mulholland never played for the Mets.

Darren Oliver of the Texas Rangers pitched to Darryl Hamilton of the San Francisco Giants. Hamilton singled to rightfield.

Just watched the game online since I missed it at work. Great game...this team showed me something special today.
