  1. If any of you rebuilding squads would like a centerpiece, I have one housebroken Bryce Harper who is looking for a new home. He is priced modestly (cough cough) at $63 dollars. Make an offer!
  2. One of you geniuses correctly guessed Justin Wilson, so congrats, you. You're a genius. I wonder, too, about Blevins. I'd totally offer that guy a minor league contract. I'm certain he would say no, but let him say no.
  3. I read this weekend the Padres are trying to figure out how to make a run at Machado and acquire Realmuto. The Padres.
  4. So she was writing for SNY before?
  5. Sorry I snoozed it. I'm in now.
  6. I don't think they prefer to lose. I do think they prefer to spend less because they can't or they don't want to, and if they don't win, well that's ok with them.
  7. A 'win-now" approach doesn't even have to end in a ring. They'd make shit tons of money (heavier than a ton of bricks or feathers!) with repeat playoff appearances. If they actually won one, too, well that'd be awesome. I'm sure Dodgers fans' hearts hurt that they got to two World Series in a row and came up empty, but that team fields a winner every year, they dance expertly under the luxury tax threshold and the owners make the aforementioned shit-tons of money in the DS/CS/World Series.
  8. My brother and I used to do that with our doubles or any card featuring Pascual and/or Melido Perez.
  9. Looks like the background is blurred in all those new Topps cards. Wonder if they instagram filtered the entire set is like that?
  10. The internet is abuzz that Pollock is gone to the Dodgers. That likely removes a Bryce Harper suitor and maybe puts some other stuff (Joc Pederson) in play. For us, that means get used to the Lagares/Broxton BATTLE FOR THE AGES!

Newsday is all like, let's make the logo graphics red! and half the headline yellow! This is a big part of why BADNESS is better. They yellow and red in SMILE serve no purpose to the cover except to make the words try to jump out more which detracts from the photo and the overall cover. The colors don't tie to the Mets, the Rockies or the scene in Colorado. The BADNESS headline almost looks like it's part of the outfield wall advertising. It's seamless and really works super well with the photo.
  12. Speaking for #TeamBadness, I feel that it's clear the Russians have successfully perverted the integrity of the Tabloid Cover Derby election system by infiltrating the forum, and subconsciously influencing voters by sharing pictures of hot, bikini-clad (Russian??) models bearing the image of the "Smile High" cover, while the "Midnight Badness" image gets splayed across a couple chubby guys like it was the paper version of the Truffle Shuffle. I mean, I'm almost 100% half-way certain that the model in pink is Maria Butina. Man, the lighting in the pool is so much better than on CNN. Like, she looks HAWT. In summary, a vote for "SMILE" is a vote for Putin and is kick straight to the marbles of democracy. You don't want to do that now, do you? Do you? #Badness2019

  14. I guess so. As a bettor, I'm prob taking the under, though.
  15. I think Frazier should ride pine against Scherzer and we should get scrappy McNeil a start here. Go w/ Lagares or Broxton for D. What say you? Nimmo - RF (L) Lowrie - 3B (S) Cano - 2B (L) Conforto - LF (L) Ramos - C ® McNeil - 1B (L) Lagares - CF ® deGrom - P (L) Rosario - SS ®
  16. If I were a manager and I had a guy that I trusted (someone like David Wright) who had the respect of most or all of the players (probably like David Wright did), I think it would be smart to have that dude be a captain. Of course it's a nebulous concept and the pace of baseball doesn't require an on-field general, but even the coolest "player's manager" around still isn't a player. But endorsing a peer of the players as their in-uniform leader could probably be helpful.
  17. He's kinda right that fans shouldn't give a crap about value, but wrong that any statistic was created to devalue players. Devaluation is certainly a possible outcome, but not the sole purpose. Fans being WOKE about analytics as it pertains to monetary value is an illusion anyway. I mean, did any of us give a crap about salaries in the Bonilla/Rojas trade 20 years ago, or how the money would affect "who won" the trade? Maybe, but I don't remember that. We 100% know how much a player is making every year. We 100% know what a team's payroll is every year. We 100% know what the luxury tax threshold is every year. We have absolutely no idea how much teams are raking in behind the curtains, numbers which are probably staggering. CF is right that fans' perceptions of which team is "smarter" via controlling costs definitely favors the owners over the players.
  18. Was Franco's "C" a little oversized? I picture him looking like a little tyke with a big ol "C" on his chest.
  19. one heckuva bullpen those guys have

  22. BVW talking about Jed playing second, third, and short (spoken in that order), and said he will play all over the field and keeps sighting his versatility. He mentioned that the team has some older dudes in the infield who should not be expected to play 162 games, and said they will need more days off. BVW also spoke of having depth for when someone goes down w/ injury. Of course he's not going to say, "I'm still trying to trade Todd Frazier's ass," but it sounds like Brody Van Spraytan wants to rotate all these guys.
  23. The two are very chummy. Apparently they met ~15 years ago and "Jedi" was a former client at BVW's agency.
