  1. These guys looking to trade for a catcher (instead of signing Grandal) and their apparent willingness to discuss Nimmo or Conforto sure leads me to believe the AJ Pollock love is real. Truth be told, I'm pretty sure I'd rather have Nimmo, Conforto, and Grandal then 31-year old oft-injured Pollock and Realmuto.
  2. [tweet:15x6rlq4] [/tweet:15x6rlq4] Yeah this is another potential trade I hate. Tell the Marlins to fuck off, and go buy Grandal.

I looked through Doubleday's estate auction, and his art was a bunch of smokey pictures of snotty young men on horseback, sometimes chasing foxes. I think the only art the Wilpons have collected is Howe. It wasn't very lifelike.
  4. Did Fred and Jeff find some Madoff bucks hidden in the couch cushions?

I go back to my ALL ACES strategy and think what the Mets need to do is add a guy like Eovaldi and bring it. This is becoming an interesting offseason as its the first I can remember where 4 NL East teams are flat-out going for it. It's going to be a very disappointing season for someone And MLB Network sez that Phils are hot for Madison Bumgarner. Kitchen's getting hot!
  6. Tall drink of water. Awesome hair. Wore his hat with great style. Seemed to not know where the hell the ball was going when it left the bazooka that dangled from his shoulder.
  7. if everything goes great, he hits to his career averages and the Mets win the WS, you still try to trade his ass in the offseason.
  8. Press conference apparently on NOW!!!! Edit: it hasn't started yet. It's just looping a 1-minute trailer for the guys, hyping the upcoming blockbuster summer hit.
  9. When he got hot during that first tenure, man he was hot. Looking back, I'm surprised the Mets went back to the Jay Bruce well for a second time.
  10. Maybe Brodie is smarter than I give him credit for and plans to ditch Cano in the first 2 years, whether Cano is helping the team or not. I'm going to hope Cano is productive this year and he gets traded to an AL team in the 2019 offseason. Brodie will offer the same $3.75M per year for the last 4 years to whatever team takes him. I will consider that a massive bullet dodged.
  11. Now that we know the Mets are taking on $100M in salary obligations to Cano, it seems they could have signed Brian Dozier as your Cano prototype for around 1 year, $10M and still signed two closery guys (Familia, Andrew Miller, David Robertson, Ottavino whoever) for about 3 years/$30M each, $80M total in new salary obligations. They'd still have Bruce (and Swarzak) to deal with, but those guys are hardly immovable like Cano will no doubt be. Edwin Diaz better be as awesome as advertised cause this move is still a head-scratcher to me. The Mets had zero (zero!) dollars committed to anyone after 2020! This is amazing to me. There are infinite number of ways they could have contracted the team. Now for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023, they'll start their budget forecasting with a big, fat $20M already allocated to Mr. Cano. Just a baffling way to hamstring your finances when the Mets could have been the most flexible team in MLB salary-wise going into those years.
  12. I vote "yay". Gotta believe Houston would blink first, but an excellent WATP just the same.
  13. How do we spend thy bounty? [tweet:23jxlz12] [/tweet:23jxlz12]
  14. I'd rather not.

  16. The Indians outfield is a mess, so I've read Conforto and Nimmo are candidates, and saw somewhere else Jeff McNeil's name thrown around. Now way the Mets do this without thinking of flipping Noah for youngins to replenish the farm and for a guy like Manuel Margot to replace the outfielders lost. I just don't see the point here.
  17. FK - I knew you didn’t mean that it was actually two separate deals. I was saying that even mentally splitting them up didn’t work (for me) because neither team would agree to one piece without the other IMO. And I agree on waiting to find out about the money but numbers floated call for speculation and we all are. $60M coming this way makes me only normal hate it. $20M coming this way is a cocktail of hatred and anger and hopelessness that I will choke on when I drink it this season anyway. Hopefully good news emerges.
  18. The 2 separate deals thing doesn't hold water for me cause I don't think the Mariners do the Edwin Diaz "deal" unless the Mets do the the Cano "deal". Also, if it's $20M dollars coming back with Cano, then LOLfuckingMETS
  19. I just made a WATP with that same thought in mind
  20. Let it be known that I do not want to trade Noah Syndergaard, but Mets are apparently GOING FOR IT and Ken Rosenthal sez Thor is next outta town so WATP right here righ tnow. San Diego sends the Mets Manuel Margot, Francisco Mejia and McKenzie Gore for Noah Syndergaard and Kevin Plawecki. Pads get their young affordable ace and a catcher who can play every day if Hedges can't hit. The Mets then offer Margot to Cleveland along with Travis d'Arnaud, current #1 prospect Andres Gimenez and BIG DAWG TODD FRAZIER for Corey Kluber and Yan Gomes! The Indians will want more, so I'll add current #5 prospect Franklyn Kilome (the dude we got for Asdrubal) and they'll think about it for a long, hard minute before accepting the offer. Kluber is awesome but making $17M this year, so Cleveland gets younger, saves ~$11M in this trade and fills immediate needs at catcher and the outfield, plus they have a one-year stop-gap at third in case Yandy Diaz isn't any ready or isn't very good. Superstar Jose Ramirez doesn't have the body for 2nd base, so he can slide to third next year and Gimenez can play second if he's ready. Kilome was at AA last year so might get a call-up as soon as this season. Indians are re-loading! The Mets rotation led by deGrom, Kluber and Wheeler is still excellent, with Gomes a solid replacement at catcher, and McNeil slotting in at third. Despite losing 2 more prospects, the quality at the top of the farm might be better with Gore and Mejia the new #1 and #2 prospects with Alonso knocking on the door. I HAVE TO GO ADD FAKE GM TO MY LINKDIN PROFILE NOW GUYS. I WILL MISS U, NOAH SYNDERGAARD

  22. I called the Padres and they told me that they are using Wil Myers at third and they have a full outfield of Hunter Renfroe, Manuel Margot, Franmail Reyes, Franchy Cordero, and your bf Travis Jankowski, so Myers has to stick at the hot corner. Then they said, "what about Noah Syn..." and I hung up.
  23. Todd Frazier is my #1 candidate to move to a new home. He's got a great personality, gets along well with others and (I think) is housebroken. I propose we call the Anaheim Angels of Los Angeles, who have really no good 3b options that I know of, and offer them Big Dawg Frazier and $4M of the $9M he's owed in 2019 for their de facto closer, Blake Parker. He's a late-bloomer, (this will be his age 34 season) and he pitched pretty well last year 9.5K/9, 14 saves in 66.1 IP. I think the Angels might look at his 4.40 FIP (against the 3.26 ERA) and view him as a candidate for regression and be open to the idea of a trade. He made $1.8M last year and is due for a raise in arbitration this year, too. Is this whack? Is this good? Would you trade Frazier or keep him? If you wanna trade his ass, too, tell me where and for whom.
