1. A Heep of Mets is a big-ass pile of Mets, people. A Darling of Mets reminds me of a collection of starlings (which is actually a murmuration, but whatev). A Familia of Mets is a tight-knit group of Mets. A Koo of Mets sounds like caged Mets, probably those confined to the bullpen. A Teufel of Mets is good, and sounds some Mets stuffed in a duffel bag for easy carrying. A Meet of Mets is pretty perfect and would be my write-in.
2. The upward mobility clause thing is funny. MLBTR says it doesn't look like Mesoraco had one afterall, even though Healy originally reported https://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/devin-mesoraco-adeiny-hechavarria-luis-avilan-upward-mobility-clause-1.28738987that he did. If it was not spelled out in the contract, and it was a handshake/wink-wink thing, then the Mets clearly didn't communicate the handshakes and winks very well. It doesn't seem like Mesoraco has any other gigs lined up, so it is possible the Mets could have let the league know he was available, and no one in the league gave a shit. Hard to tell at this point what's real or not but the confusion seems pretty Metsy.
3. Sounds like it was pretty Chris Sale-y in the end, huh. Seems unlikely he'd want to opt-out after 3 seasons and leave > $60M on the table ahead of the season where he turns 35. Unless he's still just fucking torching the league, then go, Jake, go. Also, I know stylistic rules say to never start the sentence with a lowercase letter, but seeing a capital D "DeGrom" always looks funny to me. It's changing the man's name.
4. I wonder why the Mets didn't want Mesoraco up to start the year while d'Arnaud is on the IL anyway? It doesn't seem they prefer Rivera, more like he's the reaction this Mesoraco mess. The dude should go to AAA as he signed a minor league deal, apparently with no "upward mobility" clause. BUT it doesn't seem too ridiculous for the Mets to just grant the man his release instead of restricting him. Where's the heart, Mets?
5. Incredible film. Beautifully shot. *** light spoilery stuff below *** Nice and charming dude, but definitely one or two screws loose. How bad did that guy's parents fuck him up? The scenes where his climbing and camera buddies were struggling because they didn't want to be complicit in his death were so compelling.
6. Wow, RIP Marty. Wonder if the Mets put together a sleeve patch for him? I would think yes.

8. Read that Rocco says he might just retire if no one signs him. This kinda bums me out for some reason.
9. Guessing McNeil will get the OD start at third. Still undetermined if the Mets will keep both Dom and Pete, but an argument can be made for either to start. Maybe even give the nod to Dom against the tough righty. And while I'm at it, Broxton > Lagares already. Something like this? Nimmo - RF (L) McNeil - 3B (L) Cano - 2B (L) Conforto - LF (L) Ramos - C ® Dom?? - 1B (L) Broxton - CF ® deGrom - P (L) Rosario - SS ®
10. There's gonna be way too much pressure on the Mets to not fuck this up. I think they'll get it right. BTW - did you guys see this?
11. Looks like Seaver just pushed away a knuckle ball. Cool photo, but too much text on the cover. I went with Straw over frozen in-pose Koosman.
12. Weird Darling holding a bomb almost got my vote, but that Swoboda photo is perfect. You couldn't get that feel in 2019 with the fanciest camera and a thousand filters.
13. I'm pissed I did not draft Jazz Chisholm. I will fix that on the waiver wire.
14. Cool stuff, CF. Amazing it's all still there. I have no idea what happened to 98% of my childhood Mets crap. I had pennants and multiple posters of Straw, Gooden, Keith. Starting Lineup figures of all the dudes. My mom, bless her heart, bought us so much shit we didn't need. I was a teenager living in SoCal when Straw bolted, so it stung even worse with everyone at school celebrating his arrival (defection!). I used to wear this t-shirt all the time and retired it that year. Wish I still had it. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/0d/61/62/0d61627a66b2b5c62567e134e2cabb63.jpg> Even though I was already 17 the next year, I still printed out a long-ass horizontal banner on my dot matrix printer that read "METS SIGN BOBBY BONILLA!" and I strung it across my bedroom wall as some sort of redemption celebration that we got a new, bigger slugger! That thing must have spanned like 30 sheets of paper. Using up all the printer ink to own the Dodger fans at school who would never see my cool banner was a questionable idea in retrospect.

I get why they'd kiss ass to a former player with a meaningless position, i dont get this one - but its still ultimately meaningless. There are legions of dummies on the cesspool http://www.twitter.bizwww.twitter.biz screaming she doesn't know shit about baseball because girls play softball DUH. I'm not entirely familiar with her, but I don't see why hiring her (or Leiter or Franco) would be meaningless. It's good to have outside eyes who have been paid to watch and analyze players on other teams.

18. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: What shorts are cool? Levi's cut-offs are cool if not ruined by the length (too long or short), excessive holes or fraying, the wrong goddamn shoes, or the right goddamn shoes, but with socks that go are goofily long. Dickies shorts are "manly" (sturdy and straight!) without having bulky, cargo-style thigh pockets that no one ever uses for shit. After that, there are shorts that can be worn at the gym or the beach or hiking or playing basketball, but none that can make an argument for being cool.
19. @Wolfie, I meant Sunday, the 17th for the ESPN one. @Ceetar, Yes FMan should be required by some kind of law to run that other team.
20. So it looks like the draft is scheduled for 7:30PM Eastern yeah? If so, that's 2 cool hours before the other league, which should be ample time.
21. I got no one for ya, Ceets.
22. Suck it, Philly, we got Car-Go! You show 'em, Brody.
23. My favorite of the new parks. Wide open concourse, great views throughout. Good in-game beer selection. Damn, I love San Diego.
24. I don't know. That $25M won't be outrageously restrictive. I read somewhere that as of now, they're still $70-something million under the luxury tax.
