  3. As long as Jose Iglesias isn't giving up, I'm not either.
  4. Brewers are locked into #3 seed and playing for nothing.
  5. Bob Alpacadaca wrote: I'm not sure the weather matters in Milwaukee. It has a retractable roof. Cool park, by the way. I think Kase was making a funny. There will indeed be weather in Milwaukee. 70 and partly cloudy with no precipitation all weekend. Perfect early fall baseball weather.
  6. It's smart. They can pitch Sale against KC, win, and root for the Brewers. Or they can pitch Sale against the Mets and not have to scoreboard watch. I'm surprised the Mets aren't saving Manaea.
  7. Two scenarios tonight - the Mets win or the Mets lose. I prefer the first one. First pitch 8:10.
  8. It was odd explaining to my non- Mets fan friend that it makes no difference whether the Mets go into Monday even with the Braves, one game behind, or two games behind. And similarly, it makes no difference whether the Mets are one game ahead or two games ahead.
  9. The Diamondbacks close against the Padres, and the Padres can be eliminated from the NL West division race by the Dodgers tonight. I haven't double checked, but I think if that happens, it would be in the Padres' interest to lose their final three to the DBacks, jeopardizing only their #4 seed while probably handing Arizona a WC spot (unless the Mets sweep in Milwaukee) and forcing the Mets and Braves to go all out on Monday for the last spot. OE: this would result in both the Pads and DBacks finishing at 91-71, with the DBacks getting the tiebreaker. So it would cost the Padres their #4 seed and home field in the first round, but could be worth it.
  10. Win two in Atlanta and play baseball in October.
  11. =Centerfield post_id=171415 time=1727056603 user_id=65] I'm glad we won this game the way we've won all season. Great starting pitching and a dominant bullpen.
  12. =Fman99 post_id=171327 time=1727046946 user_id=86] Padres, D-Bags already won today as well. The heat is on
  13. I'm getting the feeling Lindor may not be coming back, at all til 2025 Lindor got a "facet" shot in his back One part Lidocaine one part cortisone I get this combo fairly often and it does help with the little I'm asked to do Call me crazy, but with Lindor hurting and Acuña doing a better than serviceable job at short, I wonder if it wouldn't be a bad idea to try Lindor in right field. He has the arm and enough athleticism to play anywhere, and RF is much less demanding physically than short.
  14. =Cowtipper post_id=171305 time=1727038608 user_id=166] My crystal ball says the Mets won't win this one.
  15. The baseball gods are on the right side today.
  16. Frayed Knot wrote: That could have been three bases without the bounce into the stands ... that could have been Four bases. One baseball rule I've never understood is only allowing two bases for a ball that bounces over the fence. And, given how crappily pitchers can control their pitches, maybe penalize HBP more. Not that Kerkering threw at Pete, but that was a Nuke Laloosh pitch. And Nimmo takes care of penalizing him more, rules or not!
  17. Lefty Specialist wrote: Last 'easy' game of the year, with Phils, Braves, Brewers closing things out. Brewers' magic number is 1 to clinch the Central. Hopefully they'll be coasting by season end, though they could still be fighting for a higher playoff seed. If we can sweep the Braves, maybe we'll be coasting by then as well.
  18. Edgy MD wrote: Good God!! We've got the best Acuña!!! And the Reds have the best Diaz!
