  1. Braves lose. Let's just call it a split tomorrow and everyone takes the day off.
  2. Travis d'Arnaud, Met killer.
  3. Pack light, guys. You'll be back in Milwaukee on Tuesday.
  4. Tough call. We'll probably have to use him tomorrow. Is it better to have him cold after not having pitched for a week, or tired after having gone today?
  5. =Cowtipper post_id=172392 time=1727642401 user_id=166] Padres have something cooking. Man on second, no outs, Tatis batting.

  7. Players slump sometimes. We wouldn't be playing for a playoff spot without JD.
  8. Good thing Marte bunted there so JD could score from third rather than second.
  9. I'd rather have 100% Acuña at short than 80% Lindor. But the current Mets trainers seem smarter, or at least luckier, than previous iterations. Maybe Lindor's back at full strength.
  10. I was working on this exact table just as you posted it. Basically, the Mets' magic number vs the Diamondbacks is 2, and the Braves' magic number vs the Diamondbacks is 1. For the Mets and Diamondbacks win, Braves lose scenario, the Mets and Braves are both in if they split the DH. Otherwise, it's the Diamondbacks and whoever sweeps.
  11. Oh, yeah. I'm a yuge Padres fan until tomorrow. I was pointing out the ridiculousness of the >99.9% probability for the Braves. For them to miss the playoffs, they need 4 outcomes to go against them. If each game was purely 50-50, there would be a 6.25% chance of that happening. Each game isn't 50-50, of course, but they're not far enough from 50-50 to turn that 6.25% into < 0.1%.
  12. The Braves miss the playoffs if: - they lose to the Royals, a playoff team, tomorrow and - the Diamondbacks, a slumping but good team, win tomorrow and - the Mets sweep them on Monday. It's not a likely scenario, but I'd bet on it if you gave me 1000-1 odds.
  13. Braves can clinch the WC tomorrow over Arizona, but the Mets are definitely in the race until Monday. And we were blessed for the past two months. If we're cursed for a week and miss the WC, I can live with that. OE: for all our cursedness, there's still a decent chance we'll clinch the WC tomorrow.
  14. No matter what happens tomorrow, the Mets can only pass the Braves by sweeping on Monday. So the Braves-Royals game tomorrow is meaningless from the Mets' point of view. Mets have 3 games left, DBacks have 2 counting tonight. Mets need to win one more game than the DBacks. So if the DBacks win tonight and tomorrow, the Mets get in by sweeping in Atlanta and are SOL otherwise.
  15. =Cowtipper post_id=172197 time=1727569811 user_id=166] See you in 2025.
  16. Freaking 200 foot bloop.
  17. DBacks control their own destiny too, Smoltzy. OE - oops, they don't. If the Mets and Braves split their DH and win out otherwise, the DBacks are out.
  18. Acuña gives a clinic on how to throw out slow first basemen on tough ground balls.
  19. Stiff. Definitely not 100%. Can't really blame the umps for this fiasco, as the hitting largely stunk and Manaea had no command. But if that egregious third strike call weren't made against Alvarez, it could have been a completely different game.
  20. Score that one a hit for JD, please.
  21. Cool. I thought they might call that a strike.
