  1. Heilman may suck, but it pisses me off how Willie is the only one in the Stadium who doesn't realize it. At 3-1, two runners in scoring position, you have to give him the hook before a base hit puts it out of reach. I hate Willie. Fire the asshole.

Vic Sage wrote: Last night, i heard Willie say something about how they can't afford to have specialists, and feliciano and Schoenweise will have to get lefties and righties out, until the bullpen gets "straightened out". First of all, i didn't know the pen needed straightening out. Other than Heilman (and the late lamented Sosa) everybody is doing what they're supposed to... they're just being overused. And expecting schoenweise to get out righties because the "can't afford to have specialists" is exactly the kind of moronic thinking i expect from Wee Willie Small Balls. What could possibly be the logic behind such a statement? All I can come up with is: "We are struggling as a group right now, so we can't afford to use people in situations where they are most likely to have success." Does this "we can't afford specialists" idea also hold true for position players? If the Mets continue to tread water at .500, can we expect to see Castillo catching and batting cleanup?
  4. What wolf said. Girl was hot though.
  5. I have a red flag in my locker. What does that mean?
  6. Amazing. Great slide show Seo. That like never happens to me.
  7. For those that are watching, any update on Pagan's shoulder?

  9. I would consider steroid use fair game. Drug problems are a bit harder. If a guy gets caught smoking weed, I'd say that was ok. But if someone was dealing with a serious addiction, that might be another story. Of course, drug use is voluntary, and they should be held accountable...but I wonder if at some point there has to be sympathy for those trying to break an addiction. I wouldn't do it, but I don't think I would have strong feelings if someone did.
  10. I don't have any set rules on this sort of thing, but if I had to go off the top of my head, this is what I'd say about razzing an opposing player: Anything to do with his play or his contract ("you suck, you're overpaid") - Perfectly OK. Anything to do with appearance ("You're fat") - Ok I guess. He's a public figure. Personal/Family life ("If I were your wife I'd leave you too") - Probably off limits, unless it's a really harmless thing Serious Illness - Over the line. Death in the Family - Not even human.
  11. ="AG/DC"] Was invovled in a notorious incident in Oakland in 2004 when a fan heckled him supposedly about his stillborn child. Fellow reliever Frank Francisco, then just a rookie, hurled a folding chair at the fan, breaking the nose of the heckler's wife. Brocail actually pitched later in the game. I don't remember ever hearing that aspect of the story. I hope that if I ever run into that fan, there will be a chair within reach.
  12. That's true Rusty. It is the client's decision. It is, however, the lawyer's job to advise the client about all of the different consequences involved in commencing an action. It is the lawyer's job to discuss possible outcomes, likelihood of success, the information that could be made public as a result of the suit. In other words, it was your job to chart that ground. It was on you to discuss these things with your client's agent and make sure he was aware of the PR consequences. Oh well. In the event Asshat is unhappy with his representation, Sage & Field LLP is a full-service firm ready to step in and bungle things even further.
  13. I was thinking when watching this that we'll be ok with Willie Randolph so long as the opposing manager is even worse.
  14. Jorge Sosa is not very good.
  15. Benjamin Grimm wrote: A lack of happiness doesn't have to mean sorrow. A Mets win makes me happy. A Mets loss fails to make me happy, but it doesn't make me angry or sad. It's a good place to be. I've been trying to get there since September of 2001. Every year a I get a little closer to it. Regular season anyway...I don't think the Mets could ever lose a playoff game without affecting me in some way.
  16. This is the problem with Perez. He's going to turn in a start like this every now and then.
  17. Current Streak: 0 Longest Streak: 0 4/30: Carlos Delgado

  19. Maybe he gets the benefit of being the guy who replaced the guy who replaced Gary Cohen, rather than being the buy who replaced Gary Cohen, but from what I've heard so far, I'm ok with Wayne Hagin. I think Tom McCarthy had a better voice, and maybe was a bit more polished, but I found the way he called a game just maddening. Too many times I had no idea what the fuck was going on. Plus he just sounded too damn excited when the opposition scored and that pissed me off. Wayne just seems ok. Not great, not terrible.
  20. The better thread title would have been: "Roger Clemens - Drug Abuser, Rapist, Adulterer"
  21. That's idiotic. Let the grown men eat candy and grow beards if they want. Forget playing for the Yankees, I would never want to work there if they can't treat people like adults. I mean, unless they payed me lots of money.
  22. Actually out of the three, the only one I couldn't stand was Maddux. I thought both Smoltz and Glavine were upstanding guys and would have welcomed either on the Mets. Now I know Glavine to be a worthless fucksmith. Who knows. Maybe I'd hate Smoltz if he pitched here too.
  23. Maine 3 Sanchez 1 Chavez 1
  24. Mets are good at getting mini-swept.
