  2. The rumors have been circulating for too long, and management can't affort do turn a blind eye to it any longer. Plus, they have corroborated such rumors by stating that they are evaluating things day by day etc. At this point, they've bungled this situation to a point where an assessment given by Sell the team NOW!!!!* might actually be accurate. Willie is going to do nothing in the next 24 hours that would warrant him being retained or fired. If they've been happy with his performance, they should tell everyone to shut up and that he's here for the year. If they're unhappy, fire him now, and get this negative energy away from the team. *Former poster who, as the name suggests, had a low opinion of ownership/management
  3. Now teaching at the University of Sheffield. http://www.shef.ac.uk/management/staff/profile/hodges.html
  4. I was thinking the other day that the Mets victory song really doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Taking Care of Business was perfect for a team with a big lead and the division wrapped up. It makes no sense for this team, or even last year's team.
  5. I may be reading into things, but that pictures makes it seem like Seaver is just a bit to eager to get into the foxhole with Santana, and that Johan hates him and can't wait to get out of there.
  6. ^#&@*! Heilman &+$?<@ %#*"~ Wagner $@<# Randolph =}#%^!
  7. Worst game of the year. And it's a pretty shitty year at that.
  8. Not a very intimidating lineup the Mets are running out there these days.
  9. I thought this movie was great. Maria Bello = Top 5.
  10. Wright 2 Alou 1 Beltran 1 Delgado 1
  11. Reyes and Milledge's antics in game 161 didn't bother me nearly as much as Glavine's antics in game 162. Fuck Glavine. I hope his arm falls off.
  12. Maybe, but even so, where would we be with an aggressive attitude? 11th? Even 10th? We still don't even sniff the upper half. We're in the bottom half in terms of ERA as well (9th). Good teams tend to be good at stuff like hitting and pitching.
  13. I hate sacrifice bunts too, but let's not pretend that the Mets' struggles this year are because of our propensity to bunt (although it certainly doesn't help). We suck because we rank 13th out of 16 teams in OPS. If we want to win games, we're just going to have to hit better.
  14. I've never read Pedro Carlos and Omar. How did Rubin view those trades in his book?
  15. ="metsguyinmichigan"]Stadium issues: Besides being death to hitters, Petco Park is spared from having he worst stadium in all of baseball by the even-more embarrassing Minute Made Park and Yankee Stadium. Awesome. Early entry for the BoC thread for June.
  16. Jason Castro?
  17. Which of those picks is compensation for Glavine? I would love if whoever we pick became a major Brave-Killer for us in the coming years...
  18. It was nice to spend some quality alone time with you Doc.
  19. Lead down to two and only doctors and lawyers left in the IGT.
  20. Hey you guys that are watching the game, no need to explain or anything. Just leave us working schmucks in the dark.
  21. Gamecast says Delgado's double left the yard.
  22. Come out of a meeting and see the Mets winning. Good Mets. Good Mets.
  23. Martinez 4 Beltran 2 Wright 2 Easley 2
  24. Fuck Perez. Can he leave now as a free agent?
