  1. Lucas Duda will not allow Wilmer Flores to lead the team in HR's.
  2. Wait, I'm ok with that. He probably just lost a bet to Mr. Met. It's the inverse that would cause me to rage.
  3. Is Julio Franco retired? Someone should see what he's been up to. Or even Matt Franco.
  4. So Granderson has sucked a lot less in May than he did in April (.755 OPS vs. .682). He is still only 17th out of 23 RF'ers who qualify, but it's progress. http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/batting/_/position/rf/sort/OPS/order/true I found this list pretty interesting. First off, below Granderson are a couple of dodged bullets. Matt Kemp, Carlos Gonzalez and Carlos Beltran all look shot. Jason Heyward is struggling pretty bad as well. None of them are in sniffing distance of .700. And only 6 RF'ers in total are above .800, which at .350 OBP and .450 SLG, would seem pretty attainable for a corner outfielder. Josh Reddick is #3 on that list and I have to admit I have no idea who he is. Giancarlo Stanton only has an .846 OPS. I would have bet my house he would be at least in the mid .900's.
  5. He cannot. I stopped arguing with him last winter when he refused to acknowledge that having the ability to spend more on payroll is an advantage for a team.

I know the A's have always been on the forefront in terms of seminal ideas, but this one may blow up right in their face. I mean, fifty plus errors, if it comes to it, can leave anyone feeling a little testy. When you're thinking about a guy who's more comfortable with his bat in hand than putting a glove on it, you have to figure on a few dribblers to trickle past every now and again. But, yeah, that sort of leakage is just sloppy. You've got to handle your balls better than that, son, or you'll be stuck sitting around with a squeeze bottle and a towel. Thank god there is at least one other juvenile on this forum.

  8. And for what it's worth, fuck Ben Zobrist. Call up Reynolds. If it's a few weeks, play him at third base. If Wright it out an extended period of time, play Reynolds at SS and Flores at third. When Dilson Herrera gets healthy sit anyone that isn't hitting and re-align as necessary.
  9. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I think the ship has sailed on "sooner than expected." Back when this was just a hamstring, weren't we thinking he'd be back by early May? I think Sandy was just suggesting that after the trip to California, he may not need a long-term solution at third. I don't know. The Newsday article was somewhat encouraging: http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/mets-send-david-wright-to-california-for-back-treatment-1.10472440
  10. Getting back to Wright for a second, Sandy's latest comments suggest he may be back sooner than expected. Will see a specialist in California and will know more in a few days. I am encouraged by his comment: None of the doctors at this point have given us any indication this is a long-term problem that cant be managed. Of course, this is classic Sandy-speak, in that presumably none of the doctors have given any indication that this is a short term problem that can be managed.
  11. Have you seen this offense? Three runs will take a week.
  12. I suspect that will be the last we see of first place this season. That ride ended fast.
  13. What's frustrating is that there is absolutely nothing the Mets can do right now. There is no hitting available. This is why you don't sign Michael Fucking Cuddyer and pretend you had a successful off-season.
  14. For me I stopped fooling myself during the Cubs series. This St. Louis series is just reiterating what we already knew.
  15. Fire the team. This team is fucking awful.
  16. What's pathetic is how quietly the batters went the rest of the game. This team has no fire. No pride.
  17. Why was Niese left in the game to face Wong? I'm having trouble figuring out who sucks more. Terry or Jon.
  18. Did they give us a timeframe for Dilson and Nimmo?
  19. It was nice to see Goedell and Robles shine in a high leverage situation. Maybe Terry will remember they are out there now. I never got the feeling they would punch this one out. But these Mets showed they are a real threat to score when the opposing pitcher walks three in an inning.
  20. Agreed. The one move I probably would have made is Tejada for Flores. I also think Kirk has a good chance to pick off that Molina line drive and end the game right there. With a better jump, a little more speed and a nice dive I think that play can be made. Certainly Lagares snags that ball. I don't know that I've seen a batter as lost as Kirk. When Molina called for the curve ball down, you knew how it was going to end. Someone said it in the IGT, when Kirk hits a foul ball we are pleasantly surprised.
  21. I never got the feeling they were going to find a way to win. Happy to be wrong. Three game win streak!
  22. I was positive that strikeout was going to end up the winning run. Switching to ESPN. Is SNY crapping out on anyone else?
  23. The Mets looking like they have no chance to score another run tonight.
  24. Swing the fucking bats.
