  1. That's a bit far-fetched. You can't walk off if you are already up 11-0.
  2. He prefers to go by Jay Caitlyn

  4. The ones that killed the what would have been a perfect deal for this team. I don't see how you make that call unless it's a no-brainer. And if it's a no-brainer, how do the Houston doctors accept it? Fuck these doctors. The the same ones* that said: 1. Wheeler MRI's were "clean as heck" 2. "Matz looks fine. He can make his second start." 3. Blevins will be out for 6 weeks (it has been 14). 4. Travis d'Arnaud: day-to-day after collision in Atlanta 5. Montero should be making rehab starts even as he complains of shoulder discomfort 6. Cuddyer's not likely to land on the DL. Let's keep running him out there. FUCK YOU HOSPITAL FOR SPECIAL SURGERY. *These may or may not have been the same doctors. Also keep in mind that the quotes contained in this post may not be actual quotes. I also have no proof whatsoever that they are affiliated with the HSS, except that HSS has a lot of commercials during games, so I'm guessing they have some role in this. But what do you expect from a post made by someone with no medical background criticizing a doctors' assessment of reports not available to the public. Still, the Mets' doctors have been wrong a lot this year. And for that, they are my scapegoat. FUCK YOU DOCTORS.
  5. I am not quite sure why but this is infuriating.
  6. No rain in Midtown for the last half hour. Are they going to resume?
  7. I was wondering about that. Whatever. Fuck the rain. Let's walk off on Kimbrel.
  8. Where's d'Arnaud? Didn't they say his rehab was over?
  9. I give everyone a pass. Media did their job, the booth discussed what was going on. Terry did the right thing in trying to win the game, and the Mets did their job passing on a guy if their medical staff gave them the thumbs down. Maybe the front office could have told Terry to pull Wilmer just in case? Whatever. Not a big deal. A strange night but I don't think anyone really is to blame. I wonder though, when you have health issues for both Wheeler and Gomez, why not look at medical records very early in the process? I mean, find out what you are getting before you bid. I'm disappointed. Gomez would have been a great pickup. Maybe in 25 years when Wilmer is being enshrined we'll look back and say "OMG CAN YOU IMAGINE IF WE HAD TRADED HIM FOR A YEAR AND A HALF OF CARLOS GOMEZ, OMG LOLZ"
  10. Oh well. We battled.
  11. Jesus. Pull the poor kid. How dumb to you have to be to run the Mets.
  12. Ok. Let's go get Upton now and make our run.
  13. Frayed Knot wrote: Gomez = 30 in December Yes he's been injured (Syndergaard hit him in the head among other things) only 73 of 100 games played this year but I think he's OK now - most of his missed games were in April. Good. So he's healthy now. Hopefully he will bounce back into form.
  14. I don't know much about Gomez. I see he was pretty good the last few years. OPS is down nearly 100 points this year. Has he been hurt? And is he healthy now? Still pretty young I think. It seems like another lifetime ago that we sent him away.
  15. Frayed Knot wrote: Papelbon has a no-trade clause and he is supposedly invoking it in order to guarantee that he's to be used as the closer. Wonder how manager Matt Williams views a player dictating how and when he's used? ... not to mention what incumbent Drew Storen thinks about it as he's certainly not done anything to lose that job. How could that possibly be enforced? Does he get to go back to Philly if the phone rings in the 8th?
  16. Arbitration eligible. Wow. Imagine having to be Mejia's representative for that.
  17. I think the Mets bullpen will still be fine down the stretch. Clippard helps a lot. Hopefully Parnell will get stronger as more time passes. Blevins should be back soon. I think you tell Montero that he is going to be a setup guy the rest of the way and get his mindset ready to help the team. It would be nice to find the old Carlos Torres.
  18. I have to say last night's game was thoroughly enjoyable the entire way. It is much more fun to be pursuing a perfect game than it is to hope like hell one is not thrown against you.
  19. Good job Noah. You get the Magnus ver Magnusson stamp of approval.
  20. Isn't he under Mets control? Why cut a guy if you can get something of value back for him? I mean, I get it if you don't want the guy to pitch for the team again, but it's better to get some value rather than release him outright no?
  21. Failed another one. Now gone for 162. Idiot.
  22. This is a real head scratcher. The Reyes contract has been well accepted as a bad contract. The type that you unload, not one where you get a top level player back. I guess each side figured that the other side had the less cumbersome contract. Hey Wilpons! Let's go contract eating and get us a shortstop!
  23. I like adding Clippard. I think he will be a nice addition the rest of the way. I have no idea who Casey Meisner is so I can't judge this trade. I just read recently that Jacob deGrom was offered to Boston for Kelly Shoppach. This leads me to believe no one in baseball can really spot a good prospect. Still, you have to take some risks, and this is a good one to take so long as they keep going and add quality bat before the deadline.
  24. 11th out of 23 qualified rightfielders in OPS (.766). I would gladly take this through the end of the season.
  25. Agreed. It's a dumb statement. (By "Agreed" I meant to agree with KC. Not the immediately preceding post. I haven't read it but I can guarantee I don't agree with it.) I give you a choice of two batters to hit in the middle of your lineup. Group A is hitting .170 and .190 respectively. Group B is hitting .280 and .300. You know nothing else about them. Only an idiot would select Group A. Batting average is not everything, but it is certainly not meaningless. (or nearly meaningless)
