  2. What are Gary, Keith and Ron saying about this? I only tuned in later in the game so I missed anything they might have said about this lineup. Are they criticizing this front office? If there really is going to be that separation between ownership and the broadcast, the failure of the front office to field a competitive lineup has to be discussed.
  3. Admins, did you split this thread? I thought that I had posted something along the lines of: "Signing a 36 year old injured outfielder is my idea of offseason shenanigans." Did I make that up in my head?
  4. Buster Olney tweeted this yesterday: Elias--The Mets became the 2nd team since 1920 to start No. 4 and No. 5 hitters with batting averages under .180 and at least 100 ABs This is pathetic. Absolutely inexcusable. And unfortunately, absolutely predictable. The front office will use injuries as an excuse, but every team has had injuries, including Washington. Bad luck happens. And when it happens, legitimate contenders field a lineup that is weaker than they hoped, but still competitive. You only get stupid lineups like this when you aim for mediocrity. It sickens me that we've gone through 5 years of rebuilding to end up here.
  5. If he throws a no hitter against this lineup does it even count?
  6. WTF IS UP WITH THAT LINEUP. HOLY CRAP METS YOU SUCK.
  7. You edited? Now my post looks silly.
  8. I was the one talking about lack of singers. We need minstrels dammit.
  9. I am looking at the schedule. I am not sure why Edgy decided to stop at 18 games. Immediately following this 18 game stretch is another 4 games against the Dodgers. Two games against the Padres, then another 3 against the Nationals. We are still in the thick of a brutal stretch of the schedule.
  10. They are tied with Philly for second to last in the majors with a .660 OPS. I wonder if any team in baseball has ever made the playoffs with a bottom 3 offense. Not bottom third, bottom 3.
  11. We are missing the Dave Mlicki Game.
  12. Benjamin Grimm wrote: That's a clown question, bro. Just read this now. I nominate this the Ben Grimm thread.
  13. We should send him an invitation.
  14. Vic Black has been gone so long I forgot he existed. Apparently healthy? It's just that he sucks now. 13.50 ERA. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?player_id=502195#/career/R/pitching/2015/ALL
  15. Let's try to change the mojo with a relaunch for the second half. Travis d'Arnaud. Not dead yet. Feeling much better. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/106777/travis-darnaud-moving-closer-to-rehab-games
  16. Awesome work. This is great. Feelings Confirmed: Familia is the best. Frank Francisco is the worst. Benitez is up there among the top. I am surprised that: Franco is no higher than he is. 2004 Looper is as high as he is. We have a disproportionately high "Fran©(k)" percentage.
  17. Obviously I understand the term "Banned from Baseball" to mean something different than it does. I understand how Buddy felt. I feel like punching him now.
  18. There is a connection between the point of this thread and Tuffy Rhodes that I am supposed to be making. I am not currently making it.
  19. This is as good a plan as any I have heard this year. BG for GM.
  20. No, .690 is not horrendous (which is why I said "kinda sucks"). In fact it's better than what Lagares is giving us. So if you recommended Kirk replace Juan, I can't criticize that. A .690 OPS would put him 14th of the 19 CF'ers who qualify this year. Which is not great, but better than we currently have. (Lagares at .623 is 17 of 19). Are you saying we should replace guys who suck with guys who kinda suck? I think I'd agree with that.
  21. Edgy MD wrote: Maybe, but the history of folks who've made that jump successfully is unsettlingly small. It's not something satisfying to think about, but if that game by Nieuwenhuis demonstrates anything, the list of guys who suck now and the list of guys who might not suck going forward are not as mutually exclusive as all that. We'll see Conforto soon, I imagine. Hey, I'm happy for Kirk and all, but let's not pretend that he has demonstrated anything. Kirk has nearly 600 AB's in the big leagues at a .690 OPS. He may not suck as much as he did earlier, but he still does kinda suck. We are weighing odds here. Yes, it is a tall task to jump from AA (or even AAA in Reynolds' case) but who is more likely to give you better production for the next 2.5 months? Cuddyer/Tejada or Conforto/Reynolds? My money is on the latter. Your opinion may be otherwise. I was even weighing the idea of Nimmo in place of Lagares and letting Juan go get whatever he needs to get done to fix his arm. Our CF'er who is locked up for multiple years is not hitting for shit and can't throw anymore. But I think we give up too much in terms of range there.
  22. Sorry. AA. Yes. But he's killing it there. Let's call him up. Even if his OPS drops by 100 points he will still be a significant improvement over Cuddyer.
  23. If Ben Zobrist and Aramis Ramirez are Sandy's best out-of-club options, I say just call up Conforto. He's raking at AAA. Cuddyer has an OPS of .661. Let's call up the kid and see what he can do. Couple it with the debut of Matt Reynolds. So if we have decided that Flores cannot handle SS, let's see what Reynolds can do. Tejada cooled off and reverted back to normal Ruben Tejada. And since we know normal Ruben Tejada sucks, let's call up Reynolds to see if he doesn't suck. I think this should be an overall theme for the second half. Replace people who suck with people who might not suck.
  24. I'm thinking that the thread title has sunk us this year. Maybe we consider starting a "Recoveries in 2015 Thread"?
