  1. I don't know if this counts as a Big Ol' Signing, but Alex Wood to the Giants for 2 years. https://www.knbr.com/2021/11/22/giants-re-sign-alex-wood-to-2-year-deal-report/https://www.knbr.com/2021/11/22/giants-re-sign-alex-wood-to-2-year-deal-report/ This is one of the guys I thought could help the rotation. Small commitment, some good upside. A better option than Matz.

  3. It will be interesting to see how Sandy replaces Loup's production. I agree with letting him walk for that kinda money. Especially since I don't know that Aaron Loup is the best guy to replace Aaron Loup. Hopefully our beefed up nerd department can find the next Loup.
  4. Crash and Burn is my pic so far for 2021 TCD Champion.
  5. =TransMonk post_id=81229 time=1637162110 user_id=71] $21M is too much for one year of Noah in 2022. Heck, the QO was too much for my liking. Good luck to Thor, but that money can be better spent.
  6. Every pitcher that can reasonably be expected to be as good as Syndergaard will cost more than what it took to sign Syndergaard.
  7. A one year deal at $21M is a safer bet than the multi year contract they have to give to his replacement.
  8. Hey, so it looks like we are getting a guy from LA. Nice! What position did he hold with the Dodgers? Well, see...
  9. I wonder if the Pete covers are splitting the vote too much.
  10. Wally "Welcome" Backman
  11. How cool would it be if the TCD champion featured Mets running into the wall two years in a row.
  12. I'm thinking the 2021 DHM is Jonathan Villar. A case can be made for Tylor Megill. Especially since no one had really heard of Megill. SRF got off to a nice start, but then kinda crashed after that.
  13. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=80900 time=1636567846 user_id=68] =Centerfield post_id=80899 time=1636566150 user_id=65] He's a year older than Conforto. Has better numbers throughout his career, but I wonder if that holds if you factor in Wrigley vs. Citi.
  14. He's a year older than Conforto. Has better numbers throughout his career, but I wonder if that holds if you factor in Wrigley vs. Citi. MLBTR projects him at 6 years, $160M.
  15. Has a long swing, but seems to have good bat speed. I see the inconsistency with the leg kick. But when it's there, it's crazy. I don't think his power would translate to CitiField, which seems to eat power hitters as it is anyway. But if he signs anywhere else is likely a lock to hit 30. Handsome. Not as heart throbby as Ohtani, but I ain't kicking him outta bed.
  16. Which two 1986 Mets were never drafted at all? (Let's leave out Rafael Santana, who, as a foreign-born player, wasn't actually ever eligible.) Ed Hearn Tim Teufel
  17. I don't know if this falls under a POBO's umbrella, but priority #1 needs to be figure out why the offense so badly underperformed last year. The new big acquisition. Three previously productive LH batters. The catcher, though that might just be regressing back to his career norms. Something is up there. And we really can't allow that to be repeated.
  18. Not only that! This is a magic BREAK-OPEN QUESTION!! You've correctly given us the number of Mets who were two-time first-rounders, but for five more points each, CAN YOU NAME THOSE TWO METS?! John Olerud Paul Wilson
  19. Third place! This game is great! My next guess is Jason Tyner. I need to think a bit on the break open question.
  20. Castellanos has some red flags tied to him. A good, not great hitter over his career. Coming off his best season. Played in a hitter's dream park. Bad defensive OF. And likely tied to a QO.

Incorrect Guesses on This Question So Far None 1988 This is a solid guess, as the 1988 first round gave us the likes of Robin Ventura and Brian Jordan, along with the usual share of also-rans, averaging 8.86 bWAR per pick, but the first round we're looking for came in an earlier year than that. 24. There's a lot going on in this group: the Lindor trade and signing; Covid; Porter allegations and firing. The Post's "Lin It" cover is creepy. Agree with everything about this. In a way, this group of photos sums up 2021. Lindor. Scandals. Covid.
