  1. At first I thought Tim Lieper was gunshy after that pirates game. I now think he’s just not a very good 3B coach.
  2. I mean. We could give the one guy who’s hitting two more ABs. But wtf do I know.
  3. Why are we pinch running here?
  4. I have no issue with someone having different political views than me. Or you, or anyone else. Syndergaard had this to say: “It’s a dream come true, I’m riding this bliss in this moment,” Syndergaard said of meeting Trump during an interview on Fox News Channel’s “The Ingraham Angle.” “I really just don’t quite understand the negativity or the pessimism he gets from the media and some of the population of this nation because he’s just such a patriotic guy, and he cares so much [about] everybody and the health of this nation and the health of this world.” Donald Trump is on record mocking a disabled reporter. He's been adjudicated to have committed sexual assault. There's audio of him bragging about committing sexual assault. He organized and instructed an angry mob to storm the Capitol. He said about Somalis: "I don't want them in our country," Trump said. "I'll be honest with you, OK? Somebody will say, 'Oh, that's not politically correct.' I don't care. Their country's no good for a reason." "We're going to go the wrong way if we keep taking in garbage into our country," he said. He didn't say this about a particular group of Somalis, or his political enemies. He said this about all Somalis. He called human beings "garbage". He posted that he was happy Robert Mueller was dead. He dodged the draft then mocked John McCain for being a POW. He was found guilty of robbing from charities created for sick children. He posted a video depicting the Obamas as apes. He has urged everyone to "move on" from the Epstein matter rather than prosecuting the perpetrators. Any one of these is enough to tell you everything you need to know about him. If he were not a politician, everyone would agree he's one of the most despicable people in the world. There is no way you'd associate with him, or want him anywhere in your life. I understand good conservative people may view this terrible person as a conduit to attaining their goals. But anyone who pretends that he's a good person, or doesn't understand the criticism is deliberately allowing their political views to override their morals.
  5. I’m not optimistic. Don’t know how I can be when they’re dead fucking last in OPS. In fact, I think optimism will have to wait until they figure out why they underperform offensively.
  6. I don’t know much about him. Strictly as an announcer, I thought he represented every bad quality an announcer could have. Annoying sing songy voice. Paper thin analysis. Tons of corny schtick. The awful puns. And was more concerned with his brand than painting the word picture. Every HR was the same. “It is high, it is deep…”. And then you see the replay and it’s a line shot that just eeks over the RF fence. I have no problem with catch phrases. But it’s a problem when you’re throwing them in when it’s not appropriate. and I get the argument that he was such a parody of himself that he becomes lovable. Nah. Not for me. At the end, he’s more about his brand than the game on the field. Not my cup of tea. I’m sure he’s a decent guy. Condolences to his family. And like seawolf said. I was sad when Murph died. So I feel for Yankee fans.
  7. It used to be that you could have a legitimate argument if someone got hurt at WBC. Like would that player have gotten hurt had he been in spring training. but by schilling’s logic, you can blame the WBC for injuries even if they don’t happen at the WBC how far does that extend? Can we blame America for Wright getting hurt?
  8. It couldn’t hurt. I think just having a set everyday infield might help them settle in. Vientos should play every day now, and we are forbidden by law to rest Marcus Semien
  9. Need some more updates please. Lindor. minter. Mauricio. I did read 6-8 weeks on Ronny. Fractured thumb.
  10. Would you say a .500 OPS is equivalent to being on the interstate? We need a creative nickname for the .500 and below club. Fortune 500 is the opposite of what we want. Maybe you keep it driving themed and say who’s racing the Daytona 500?
  11. I’m convinced Vientos and Baty will heat up. Both those guys never hit in April
  12. At some point you get the feeling it’s just not meant to happen.
  13. This team can’t do anything right.
  14. Why is McLean out after only 4 innings?
  15. I feel like Mendy is just a puppet for the front office.
  16. I wish we were still playing the Angles.
  17. It’s crazy to be out of it so early. There are times I hit a level of apathy on a lost season. I don’t remember ever hitting that point in April. But here we are. When the Mets lost yesterday I was disappointed to hear it, but it wasn’t gut wrenching. It didn’t ruin my day. I’m not counting down to the next game to flush out the bad taste. What a fucking disaster. Anyway. Here’s what I would do now. *Play Ronny, Baty, Vientos, Benge every day. Against righties/lefties, whatever. Let’s try to see what they actually are. All of them play the field as much as possible. Try Benge in CF. *Call up Morabito while Robert is on the IL. If he’s good you cut Tyrone Taylor when Robert comes back. *Start Christian Scott. *keep starting Peterson. Of the three starting pitching busts, I feel like he’s the most likely to find it. *DH Soto indefinitely. Give him his rest too. No need to push him in a lost season. *remind ourselves that it wouldn’t be bad to get a high draft pick for a change.
  18. I’m sure Marcus Semien will do some damage here.
  19. Peralta against some scrub. Like it matters anyway.
  20. If someone told me before the season that the Mets are going to crash and burn but your friend seawolf is pitching the sixth inning on April 30 maybe that’s worth it?
  21. It’s shocking to be relying on those guys with this huge payroll. David Stearns is going to set a record for contracts eaten. I mean, we are already paying for Nimmo and McNeil to play for other teams. We are paying Frankie Montas to not play at all. Manaea is certainly an “eat the contract” candidate. As is Senga. Semien’s contract is the worst of them. It will be a test of how long we can tolerate the pain before cutting losses. Polanco’s contract looks bad. So does Devin Williams. Minter has been a waste of money. Luis Robert looks bad. We’ll need to buy him out at $2M next year. Bichette also gets an opt out bonus $5M. All of this while wasting a year of Juan Soto’s prime. Inexcusable.
  22. Not watching this game. But I think a fair second guess is bringing Manaea in with men on versus a clean inning.
  23. All three are garbage.
  24. The way I look at it. Regardless of what David Stearns has done or not done. If you look at the talent assembled for the 2025 team and had to guess the range of outcomes, 83 wins and missing the playoffs would be at the bottom of this projections. Or potentially below them. If you look at the talent assembled for the 2026 team and had to guess the range of outcomes, 9-19 would be well below any realistic projection. An underperforming team is on the manager. He has to go. And a team unwilling to acknowledge and make that move is one that is more concerned with being right than being good.
