    I was impressed how well he hade the transition from reliever back to starter. Cowtipper said he was "not stellar, but steady." I think he was a little better than that. I wish him well. Later

    They did clear a lot of future dollars, so that's was a plus. They hollowed out the bullpen of several competent pitchers, so that was a minus. They got a possible future starting infielder,, so that was a plus. They didn't get any hitters who can help near term, and to me that's a minus. So, Overall, I give them a C+ Later

    So far in his career, Senga has pitched with five or six days' rest. If he is being converted to a short reliever, It will be interesting to see how quickly he will be able to pitch again. Later

    Centeno was one of my adoptees on the old board. I felt a lefty hitting catcher who threw out a very high percentage of guys trying to steal had a good shot at making the majors. Glad to see he’s still around. later

    The Cubs can now play an outfield of Conforto, Taylor and Crow-Armstrong, with Peterson and Holms as two of their starters. (fill in appropriate analogy here) Later

    He was always ready to play and gave his all when he did. And that's about all you could ask from a reserve. Seemed like a good guy. Later

    Lots of room left now on the pitching staff. The question in my mind is : who will that vacuum suck up and/ or will the pitchers filling that void suck? Later

    Hellfire? I'm pretty sure that group will drive in more than it lets in (old baseball adage). I wish the Mets had the problem of wondering where to play all the productive bats. Later

    I fear his definition of loading up will be spending a lot of money for one (maybe two) name player(s) rather than going (money or trades) for a balanced roster. Later

    I loved the guy- he was always ready to pitch, no matter what the role. He will be missed. later

    One bad year is an aberration, two is bad luck, but three tells is exactly what he is. And that isn’t good. Dangle him out there to see what other teams offer. can’t hurt. later

    It depends on whether you need a regular or part time player. Taylor is a decent sub, and seems comfortable in that role. Robert is a crappy regular and after being a regular, I'm not sure how he will be in the clubhouse if he has to fulfill a part time role. Later

    Any team going after Robert is doing it on name only. They hope they have the magic talisman to revive the corpse back to prior life. Right now he’s a little more useful than a third nostril, not earning his salary. Taylor is a cheaper, probably more dependable player. I’d keep him around. later

    Interesting that veterans with a track record have declined so much. I would expect the veterans climb back to their norms by the end of the season. But some don't seem to be improving. If they aren't, what could it be? Are they being forced to confirm to a different batting approach by the coach? I would think a veteran would stay with what has served him well in the past and ignore that approach. No? If not that, the reason eludes me. Anyone who knows, and can fix, the problem, please go to CitiField and pick up your check. Later
