    Across baseball, the rise of modern, data-driven player development has produced success stories. It has saved careers. It has also frustrated players and disrupted growth. Its influence has, rightfully, become deeply embedded in the game. But the approach has sometimes shut out or quieted coaches and players who weren't fully on board. The question is no longer whether Driveline and the movement it helped popularize have changed hitting in recent years.     That projection #1 is still bugging me. Past quizzes have told me that Edgy can be very precise with his wording. So, I'm thinking that there's more to projection than the obvious. So I thought it may be a player who had a cuppa', was out for a year or two with injury , but still would be a rookie if he were to be activated. And I STILL CAN'T think of anyone, dangit! Later

    I'd guess that "agreement" has clauses that would protect the player (should he get injured before he turns 16) and the Tigers (should he sign elsewhere). If not, there should be. Later

    I'm guessing Alvarez moved up because Green needed to break up that string of lefty batters. I'm surprised that Ewing wasn't moved to left and Morabito put in center. While they're both fast, Nick has a tad more speed. Later

    I hope they start Vientos in Tuesday's game. Part of Mark's problem earlier in the season IMO was that he thought they wanted him to be Pete Alonso. We would have been happy with a good Mark Vientos. And he tried too hard. Maybe the stint in the minors has allowed him to focus. Let's see if they let him keep his hot streak going. Later
