  1. Nah. Just replace the commissioner and the rules committee, who are messing with the game.
  2. The article was behind a paywall. I didn't read it. Does the new rule allow for a manager to challenge a swinging strike call, or will he still get an automatic ejection from the game? Later
  3. Tong vs some putz. C'mon, guys. The Empire State Building is more iconic than the Space Needle Chock Full O'Nuts is better than Starbucks New York Harbor is better than Puget Sound. The Mets have GOT to be better than the Mariners. LGM! Later
  4. There is a particularly virulent Mariner's fan on another baseball board who has been insulting the Mets and their fans for years. Nothing would make me feel better than the Mets keeping Ashie's IGT streak going. LGM!! indeed. Later
  5. C’mon Ashie, we need an IGT for today’s game. later
  6. He'll be back. He's pitched well. They needed afresh arm. Later
  7. Anderson Severino, we hardly knew ye. Later
  8. This team burns through bullpens faster than Mrs. O'Leary's cow, Later
  9. This. I've been saying that for years. And the floor should be set at the revenue each team gets from national TV and radio contracts. Then, attendance, concessions, local tv and radio and parking revenue would be kept by the teams. IMO, this would make the smaller market teams more competitive, with more money to pay free agents and keep their own young players. Later
  10. The heat and humidity would getcha'. Later
  11. BA DA BING! I didn't froget to tip the server. Squish the fish, and leave the Marlins (pun intended) floundering. Later
  12. Why? I didn’t see it. later
  13. Seems like he's been around forever. He was Babe Ruth's boyhood idol. Later
  14. Many celebs are attending the basketball playoffs. I have a feeling that we'll be seeing them behind home plate again once that season is over, IF the Mets give them a reason to return. Late
  15. Wagaman has been hitting well at Rochester, mainly a DH.
  16. This. Except for machine gun bullets flying over our heads and those pesky grenades 30 feet away, you're right. Welcome back, brother. Later
  17. I remember on the old board when the Mets named a hitting coordinator. I wondered how that differed from a hitting coach and was told the coordinator sets the approach for the entire organization. If you check the daily minor league box scores (thank you Brock), you'll notice that approach isn't working at any level. Too many games with fewer than nine hits of any kind and the AA team was no-hit twice within a week. Maybe they have to re-evaluate what the coordinator is doing and let him coordinate with some other organization. LAter
  18. Soto will be Wally Pipped. go get ‘em Ewing. later
  19. Congratulations! You came up with a new Tong pun. As you said, we always need more. Later
  20. As they continue my journey toward ennui. The only thing I look forward to now is the progress of the kids. Later
  21. You beat me to the IGT by about 10 seconds. BTW, how do we delete a post? Later
  22. He looks very thin. I don't think its his diet, but because he has to run to back up third base every time he throws a pitch*. Later *= I think I first saw that line in Joe Garagiola's book "Baseball is a funny Game"
  23. I wonder if they'll start him immediately or ease him into the rotation. Later
  24. I like the performance of the top 25 at the end of each report. Weird, though, that so many of the top 10 were DNP. And how long will players have to stay with the big club before thy graduate from our prospects list? Later

Yep, like they had time to fill. But the first part, about basic training, was as realistic as it was funny, if you ever went through Basic. Later
