  1. I see Vientos and hopefully remember that Mike Schmidt hit around .200 in his first 500 MLB AB. Later
  2. A Mets version of the Jets' Wayne Chrebet. He doesn't impress you until he beats you. I wish him well. Later
  3. He was promoted to AAA Syracuse today. Later
  4. Mike Vasil is a right handed starting pitcher now at Binghamton. The 2021 draftee from the U of Virginia was just voted Eastern League player of the month. Welcome to the family, kid. Make us proud. Later
  5. Moved to member promotion forum. Later
  6. =metirish post_id=126194 time=1684710057 user_id=72] The link didn't work for me , but congratulations Ron

  8. I watch it every time it comes on. The music inspired my wife and me to take hustle dance lessons which we never ended up using. I guess we got hustled. A side note, the song "Manhattan Skyline" was written by my cousin, David Shire (yes, married to actress Talia). For several years, it was used on national NBA telecasts when they broke for commercial. Later
  9. Awwww. I thought it was about one of my childhood cowboy heroes, Lash Larue. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lash_LaRuehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lash_LaRue Later
  10. From reviews and discussions of the movie since it first came out, I get the impression that that how well people liked it is inversely proportional to their age - the younger the reviewers, the higher the rating and vice versa. Later
  11. Started and couldn't get through it. I like action. I like sci-fi. I like family stories. But they couldn't make chicken salad from this chopped up chicken. Later
  12. Just got tickets for our annual family trip to see the Yard Goats. Unfortunately, they won't be disguised as the Hartford Bouncing Pickles that day. The Yard Goats will play three games under different team names. For the game on May 17, the team will play as the Hartford “Bouncing Pickles,” playing tribute to an old law in the state that prohibits the sale of a pickle unless it can be bounced off the ground. https://www.sfgate.com/sports/article/ct-hartford-yard-goats-schedule-2023-17776357.phphttps://www.sfgate.com/sports/article/ct-hartford-yard-goats-schedule-2023-17776357.php But if there are any hats available, I'm getting one. 13. Amazinavenue.com rates him the team's #11 prospect.https://www.amazinavenue.com/2023/1/20/23555170/mets-top-25-prospects-for-2023-rhp-calvin-ziegler-11 Later
  14. =vtmet7 post_id=116303 time=1673133281 user_id=80] De Los Santos looks intriguing, however it's concerning that he's 23 but has never played above A ball St Lucie.
  15. Are you saying it may be the coaching? Maybe. But those players were very young when they were in the Mets minor League organization, and success later could be the result of maturity - knowing when NOT to run is as important as knowing when to run. It also could be managerial style in certain situations. Interesting point, though and I'd like to see organization -wide data to begin to see if there is a trend. The current minor leaguer I'm keeping an eye on is Omar De Los Santos, who stole 70 bases (along with 16 home runs)this year, was caught stealing 15 times. He's 97-18 for his minor league career. It will be interesting to see what his numbers will be as he progresses up the organization ladder. Later
  16. He was named MVP, after leading the league in hits, doubles and RBI. He also finished second in home runs (five), runs (26) and stolen bases (11) while posting a .287 batting average that was good for the league's third-best mark. https://sny.tv/articles/mets-prospect-ronny-mauricio-named-2022-dominican-winter-league-mvp?fbclid=IwAR2W3lKaWLjIf9vrbwxNIb4AnAhYDS7R9PXjjD30nfAboNZDPsljWEsGMaMhttps://sny.tv/articles/mets-prospect-ronny-mauricio-named-2022-dominican-winter-league-mvp?fbclid=IwAR2W3lKaWLjIf9vrbwxNIb4AnAhYDS7R9PXjjD30nfAboNZDPsljWEsGMaM Later
  17. =vtmet7 post_id=113593 time=1669831090 user_id=80] the bigger story is likely the fact that Mauricio finally started playing a different position than shortstop recently. Something Mets fans have been seemingly waiting for since the Mets traded for Francisco Lindor and signed him long-term. Mauricio was at shortstop on Tuesday night, however, he played the previous three games at third base.
  18. Ronny's still tearing it up for Licey in Winter Ball: Mauricio has been one of the most feared hitters in the LIDOM circuit in 2022, sporting an impressive .322/.357/.508 slash line with 15 extra-base hits and 25 RBI in just 28 games. He has a hit in eight of his last nine games, and he has driven in six runs in his past two games. https://metsmerizedonline.com/the-ronny-mauricio-train-keeps-on-chugging-in-lidom/https://metsmerizedonline.com/the-ronny-mauricio-train-keeps-on-chugging-in-lidom/ Later
  19. Another big night for Ronny Mauricio in the Dominican winter league: 3-for-5, 2 2B, 2 RBI, R, SB, .961 OPS The 21-year-old Mauricio is leading the league in hits (21), doubles (7), RBIs (15), and tied for the lead in steals (6). Later
  20. Since I'm a cat lover I'm a softie for stuff like this. Kinda silly, but it was cute. I gave it 3 1/2. Later
  21. He had surgery to repair his inured ankle, and will be ready for Spring Training. https://metsmerizedonline.com/francisco-alvarez-ankle-surgery/https://metsmerizedonline.com/francisco-alvarez-ankle-surgery/ Later
  22. With no announcement whether yesterday's rainout will be made up, Francisco went 2-3 in today's final regular season game. He finished the season with a .234/.382/.443 line at AAA - 158AB, 31R, 37H, 6-0-9, 31 RBI in 45G and .277/.368/.553 at AA - 253AB, 43R,70H, 16-0-18, 47RBI in 76 G. Combined stats: .260/.374/.511 22-0-27 78RBI. Not bad for a 20 year old in 112 games. Later
  23. Francisco Álvarez since returning from an ankle injury for Triple-A Syracuse: - 8 G, 34 PA, .387/.441/.742, 3 HR, 10 RBI, 5 XBH, 3 BB, 8 K He didn't play last night. I hope he finishes out the season strong and plays every game until the season ends on Thursday. Later
  24. Another 2-4. Up to .225. Later
  25. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Maybe he needs an ankle injury every once in a while to give him a jump start. You may be onto something. He was 3 for 3 last night with a double and homer in a rain shortened game. Maybe he is stepping more gingerly because he's afraid to inure it again, and it has altered his stroke or approach to the pitch. Later
