  1. SB -- Tony Womack, uh, 299 oh single season. Tony Womack 65
  2. There's absolutely no reason the team couldn't "raise numbers to the rafters" without retiring them.
  3. As we were all reminded yesterday there is nothing worse than the Mets losing a day-game rubber-game while you're at work. That's the worst schedule there is. Late night starts can be challenging but if they're getting 1-hit in the 6th inning you can at least go to sleep, Giants iirc always had the latest starts -- 10:30 at night, back in the day, I'd have to be asleep before they started.
  4. Learn more about Todd Zeile at your local library!
  5. There were two issues with Zeile and the Cardinals that soured the relationship. in 1994 he lost a contentious arbitration hearing in which the Cardinals used his defensive struggles at third base against him, not acknowledging they moved him there and had him learn on the job. In 95, Zeile contended the team withdrew a contract extension offer after he injured a thumb in spring training.
  6. Mendoza doesn't strike me as the kind of manager who can even confess to there being a problem. His approach is all about propping up his guys in hopes that they have the ability to figure it out themselves.
  7. Rogersfest features the best independent filmmakers dedicated to movies about beer
  8. Loverboy gonna be sent to AAA in about 5 minutes.
  9. I'm not comfortable with it. The players are the best in the world and make mistakes all the time, there's no reason the umpires wouldn't too. Also, you know this is setting the stage for no umpires at all, which I'd miss. That said there's a Jomboy video from this weekend in Cincinnati showing that CB Bucknor called 20 pitches strikes that weren't strikes by ABS (just 5 were challenged and overturned)
  10. "This guy's got a good fastball--and he's in love with his slider."
  11. Surprised Lieper didnt send Lindor on the triple
  12. I just read up on this and the line is that Mendoza decided before the series to be "aggressive" as though such a decision precluded common sense with a game on the line. We may as well commit to being "aggressive" about whether Tim Lieper and Mendoza suck ass.
