1. I'm not comfortable with it. The players are the best in the world and make mistakes all the time, there's no reason the umpires wouldn't too. Also, you know this is setting the stage for no umpires at all, which I'd miss. That said there's a Jomboy video from this weekend in Cincinnati showing that CB Bucknor called 20 pitches strikes that weren't strikes by ABS (just 5 were challenged and overturned)
2. "This guy's got a good fastball--and he's in love with his slider."
3. Surprised Lieper didnt send Lindor on the triple
4. I just read up on this and the line is that Mendoza decided before the series to be "aggressive" as though such a decision precluded common sense with a game on the line. We may as well commit to being "aggressive" about whether Tim Lieper and Mendoza suck ass.
5. Lindor was so out my first thought was that he must've blown through a stop sign. We were watching in a bar with no sound but i never saw them show what if anything our 3rd base coach did. If he waved him in that was really bad judgement and made Lindor look like an idiot.
6. This doesn't make any sense. Ken Boswell?
7. Strawberry Fields would work, if we didn't hafta have the word Mets in there. LFG Mets a favorite of many: You Gotta Relieve
8. Neither one is any good. Lots of people have already triend the Willets Point thing, seems like, and Grand Central is too un-Metlike and/or too much like Grand Slam Single and you know what happened to that room. It's probably too late but there must be a better thing out there. A Bob Murphy remark or a Ramones lyric that could do double duty and signal in code that this was a place for thinking people to engage in Mets discussion and also be welcoming.
9. 2 is close but maybe not. Is it the actual NYC transit font?
10. If you're going to do a roadsign - or a subway sign - you need to match the font exactly. I feel like the Mets are more associated with trains than highway traffic
11. Come on guys. The Crane Pool was a stupid name too. These kind of puns stop being funny after the first 3 times you say it. There should be a way to incorporate the word "Pool" in the new name. The Amazin' Pool Mariano Rivera's Poolboys The Mets Pool Met Wetness
12. What an interesting thread. People should be happy there will be another place for the room. It does look like those sites have far too many irritating popups and I wonder if they can be tamed. People can be skeptical and use AI to express that skepticism in exaggerated ways. I don't see what the problem is. The same guy (I think) advocated moving to a private Reddit room so I'm not sure how serious they are. I'm skeptical about there being adequate content for a magazine, and I'm not entirely sure this room is actually grow-able. Who wants to hang out with grumpy old farts doing stupid **** allatime? I didn't bail because Batmags got whacked; I left because there was a guy who called for his execution three posts into his cpf career and it didn't even get remarked upon, and that reminded me there's plenty of ways to make negative contributions to the room-- everyone does it, and most people get away with it. I felt like I couldn't be a part that any longer. Besides all that with the 2025 Mets, I just had nothing to contribute to the discussion.
13. I liked this more than I thought I was gonna. Was expecting a dramatic retelling of the book; instead it was hardly about the book at all but a separate mostly fake but enjoyable story about a young musician wrecking lives and maybe his career. So it was mostly ******** but at least it didn't ruin a good book.
14. Middle-aged rocker and his wife form a Neil Diamond tribute act, true love hijinx ensue. Got a sneak preview before movie opens next week. Spoiler alert: I loved it
15. I will give this a 7-7.5. The story is told in blocks that you have to piece together yourself-- which is sort of what the characters do too as there is mystery to it. Parts are absolutely gruesome-- not to see but to think about. Not a particularly funny film.
16. We got a free trial subscription to Mubi, which turns your living room into an art house. That's where we saw it. EEPHUS is on there too, watched that the other night
17. Baaaa-dass hijinx ensue when neighboring Irish shepards get to a-fuedin'
18. DiComo says Mets are done
19. Yanx trade for Camilo Doval
20. 2 minutes to get better
21. You know who will make room for Kwan? The Phillies, that's who
22. Give him Winker's job, problem solved you find room for a guy like that
23. So Taylor if he has any WAR it's all in fielding but it's sort of a "least you can do" situation for me. He kills us every night at the plate. I liked Taylor a lot as a guy off the bench last year and this returns him to that role. I'd like a meatier hitter in this lineup too.
