1. Really good performances, won a bunch of awards, but it was a little draggy for me and the plot worked out more or less like I thought it would. The twists were realistic but as a result not twisty enough for a tension-filled movie.
2. Courtroom hijinks abound when a writer in a remote Alps chalet becomes a suspect in her husband's death.
3. this sounds pretty bad
4. Me, I was a bit overpromised by the reviewers. It was good, just not great.
5. It's not a good movie. But I can see myself re-watching it for the cheese factor. -- almost unknown Kevin Costner -- hilariously dated subplot about the dawn of sports medicine and cringe gym scenes --biking is also way dated. They use helmets and not cowboy hats today --big cliché sports movie. The villain in addition to being a nasty ex-husband of Costner's babe, is raging mad in every scene, cheats, impolite to the press etc. How 7-Eleven allowed a character like this to be clad head to toe in their gear I'll never know -- the Russian cyclist was so obviously not Russian --puzzling medical issue never really explained --Young [CROSSOUT]Jennifer Grey[/CROSSOUT] Alexandra Paul is worth seeing
6. sorry about that. Fun Fact: This movie and "American Flyers" both star [CROSSOUT]Jennifer Grey[/CROSSOUT] Alexandra Paul. We didn't plan that
7. Estranged bike-racing brothers encounter all manner of hijinks en route to a big race in Colorado. Written by Breaking Away's Steve Teisch. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of these 1985 movies.
8. Road-movie hijinks ensure when mismatched Jew cousins from New York visit Poland, from where their late grandmother escaped the holocaust. Not posting the trailer because its a short movie and all the good scenes are in there.
9. He's a jock but he's not jocky, kinda goofy and immature, intelligent, his own man. You can root for him, he's not a classic hero. His friend Kutch is all facade, and tragically so. I thought he was good. My issue was the girl. She wasn't consistently played, swinging from bitchy tough chick to sensitive artist, and she didn't know whether to go for the 18 year old or the 34 year old but it wasn't like she was confused, she just wasn't following a linear path. Too much Pat Benatar not enough Susanna Hoffs
10. I thought this movie was better than most "brat pack" coming-of-age films. I didn't read the novel it was based on but you could sorta tell that was original. --I didn't know Spokane had a busy downtown with hotels and taxis --Weird that an 18-year-old student can hang out in a bar that his teacher is in and nobody raises an eyebrow. --Sign of the times that confessing to not participating in a gangbang is a source of shame --Fairly typical sports-movie ending but at least the opponent wasn't an over-the-top villain --"It's not 6 minutes. It's what happens in them" (or something) --Big 80s soundtrack with Madonna, Journey's brightly arranged "Only the Young," and "Lunatic Fringe" which became a wrestling-team anthem.
11. High school wrestler encounters wandering tough-chick, sparks fly and hijinx ensue. Watched this last night for the first time since seeing it new in the theater. Cast is interesting --Jake Ryan from 16 Candles as Kutch --Forrest Whitaker as a wrestler --The Sure Thing girl Daphne Zuniga as the newspaper edtior --Dick Jones from Robocop as the Dad
12. Don't sleep on Kleber Gamez.
13. Am I the only person who saw this?!? --Solid performances and music performances. I liked whathisname as Pete Seeger especially, Bob's women somewhat less. --Didn't reveal enough of what made Dylan good. It was just like, he's a good songwriter, what more do you want? --Usual biopic issues of compressed timelines, etc
14. Obnoxious folksinger encounters hijinks in New York and Rhode Island.
15. You just wonder if Boras won't slow-walk it if the interest doesn't immediately materialize
16. I thought I remembered stories that the Cubs were hot for Pete.
17. Gosh, I was worried people would see this and think I recommended it. I had a few problems 1-It's set in Queens and even has it in the tile but could have been anywhere. Other than doing one of those drive-bys to establish location at the beginning (oh look! Citi Field!) there was little there but for neighborhood houses, exteriors of that banquet hall on Queens Boulevard, and what looked like the make-out spot in Forest Park--I ride my bike there. 2-About 30% the movie takes place in a car--the kid has his own car. Nobody takes a train anywhere. 3-I didn't buy any Dad making such a dumb mistake as Ray did, or the girl following through, or the kid buying it. 4-Mom's Queens accent sounded like a Wisconsin accent. I did like that it was understated and sweet at its core and would agree performances were good except for the accent. Giving it a 5
18. Just me but we should keep him
19. Sadsack dad and sadder sack kid encounter emotional hijinks at home, at work, and in college. Set in Glendale.
20. Girl goes on a hiking trip with her dad and his friend. Hijinks ensue.
21. That's the one!
22. Had a baseball card that was a closeup profile dominated by the pinkish glow of his White Sox batting helmet. One of the most distinctive cards in my early collection
23. 6.5 out of 10. Completely predictable but also several genuinely funny moments. Sunny vibe overall
24. Guy meets girl, except she's not the right girl... OR IS SHE?!?? Romantic hijinks ensue.
25. A proper obituary would have revealed what UL stood for. We called him Underwriters Laboratory. It turns out those weren't initials but his given name.
