1. What cleat brand is Keough rocking? that's the important thing.
2. As I've said before we can;t get too caught up in "counting" stats, especially as we don't truly understand how widespread juicing was in his era (for example how many pitchers used? How many juicy minor leaguers were coming for their jobs? Why do we assume only those who were caught were users?) and it can be argued that as ethically dubious as it was it wasn't technically illegal at least for a time. So I just mentally adjust for the era. 73 was 61 in the steroid era. 15 was 61 in the dead-ball era, etc etc. The number itself doesn't make a guy any more or less suspect. How do we know Schilling wasn't also a juicer? Because he says he didn;t?
3. As I relayed there seems to be an attempt anyway at a Meet the Mets viral thing, with the goal of supporting charity. I got tagged by a friend who did a mellow acoustic version and I tagged 3 musician friends who I'll hope to do the same. I probably should tagged 10
4. A classic performance here. Oh, PS Despondent Ivan challenges all of you to post you own
5. Joel Youngblood deserves his own facebook page. Oh, wait, there is one: https://www.facebook.com/groups/532755423571631/https://www.facebook.com/groups/532755423571631/
6. That's something I did not know. Good to see 'Blood get a ASG appearance. He was having a good year until the strike came along iirc.
7. I got "tagged" on facebook by an actual musician to perform this myself and here's what we came up with. Wou;ld be cool to turn this into a "thing":

9. I'm not clear on the intent. To restart baseball in the pandemic, or just any game in normal circumstances?
10. cal sharpie wrote: Their Triple A team is the Indianapolis Indians who you would think would be a Cleveland affiliate but they are a Pirates farm team. So maybe some Indianapolins are Bucs fans. Huh, I always thought Cleveland was theirs, I think you're right
11. Here's a question I don't know the answer to: What baseball team do folks in Indianapolis root for? (when they're not watching college hoops and auto racing?) It's probably closest to Cincy, I definitely get a Cardinals vibe in Southern Indiana, it's a longstanding Indians farm city and the Cubs have sonme proximity and probably the greatest magnetic attraction. So what's the answer? And what other cities in the US can you think of with undefined rooting interests? By the way this came from an actual question I asked of an Indianapolis based businessman. He said, nobody around here cares about baseball. But Indy's a pretty big city
12. lol. I love baseball justice.
13. Thanks, Eddie! What a deal for the Mets, even if it wasn't the deal they would have wanted. The Mets tried desperately to find something to do with Mazzilli that spring. With Mookie taking over in center, Foster, Kingman, Staub, Valentine and Jorgensen taking up the corners and first base, Bamberger was talking about using Maz at second base. They needed pitching though. The Blue Jays, Cubs and Rangers all wanted a center fielder. Mets tried for Dave Steib or Jim Clancy from Toronto and struck out; tried to get Lee Smith from the Cubs and failed, and were discussing a 3-way with Texas and Montreal that would get the Mets' Al Oliver for Maz, then Scott Sanderson for Oliver, but the Expos short-circuited that by trading direct with Texas, Oliver for Larry Parrish. The Rangers were shopping because Mickey Rivers was out with an injury. Darling had been a first-round draft pick the previous summer and Terrell led the Texas League in wins in 81. [bLOCKQUOTE]"We have had several conversations with Eddie Robinson of the Rangers, and when it became obvious we could not get a front-line starter, we prosed (sic) the names of Ron Rarling and Walt Terrell. Robinson said no right away. He turned us down a couple times before he agreed tonight to the deal."[/bLOCKQUOTE]
14. 31:12 Ferarra HR 55:09 Harrelson standup RBI triple off the wall. Ralph thought it was going out 1:35: Murph discusses a stopwatch used by umps "several years ago" to enhance pace of play. 2:12: Seaver ties the Met record. 2:25: last at-bat.
15. 1999 Alfonzo-Olerud-Piazza had to be the most devastating 2-3-4 Holy Trinity in Mets history too. Even if Ollie's leadoff opportunities don;t speak well for the 2nd hitter.
16. Here's an interesting factoid. Seaver's 19 Ks broke the all-time club record of 15 set by Nolan Ryan... set[CROSSOUT] 3[/CROSSOUT] 4 days earlier. http://www.mbtn.net/?p=3281http://www.mbtn.net/?p=3281
17. Headline is only okay but bonus points for WifeY WaTcH.
18. That's not much of a SABR recap if I must say so. http://www.beta.mbtn.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/23-Apr-1970-66-Daily-News-at-Newspapers-com.png>
19. Heyman says Mas was approached by Arod but declined to get in on it.
20. As I've said in the past I admire Arod's almost childlike enthusiasm for baseball. He is a baseball fan not just a baseball player. Unfortunately he possesses no common sense either and is the kinda guy who screws up the very things he loves.
21. You gotta admit, as a final fuckoff to the Wilpons, it'd be kinda funny. I guess Piazza would be the wealthiest ex-Met and he doesn't want to buy the Mets. MLB also turned down his dad when he tried to buy the Marlins
