  1. Yeah this flick's influence outkicked its coverage. As mentioned above Stallone and Gere had it out. According to Rocky, it was over Gere spilling mustard on his stageclothes
  2. How about the Lords of Flatbush? What's up with the fake 50s music?
  3. So what? It's not like you're in jail. MFS62 is the main perpatrator of blind link crimes and he's not bleeding all over the film review forum
  4. it's not a personal thing though it's a community thing.
  5. Do you really have to demonstrate so much persecution? It's just a thing, and as expressed in the thread, not the only practice of coupling of published stuff we oughta be changing. I just watched this flick for the first time the other day. One of my issues with it is that it makes heavy use of music but it would appear that the songs only sound like 50s tunes and aren't recognizable 50s tunes, like those used in American Graffiti and Happy Days. It sorta looks and feels like a low budget flick. Also, it's not as good as American Graffiti (by a long shot), but probably better than most Happy Days episodes. I was hoping to see more authentic old Brooklyn locales than I did. The plot isn't all that compelling but admirable in that it doesn't really have one, just the coming-of-age sorta thing in a real way--some guys grow up, some have grown-up-ism forced upon them, others don't grow up at all. The violence could be better. Would have liked more nudity too. Hard time believing a gang with painted leather jackets had only 4 guys in it. I liked Fonzie and Rocky in this movie though. Read where the "main" character of Chico was to have been played by Richard Gere but he didn't get along with Stallone on set and was swapped out--bad blood remains between them ever since. All the characters yell a lot. None of them look like high schoolers.
  6. Rocky and Fonzie are minor league hoodlums in 1958 Brooklyn. Hijinx ensue.
  7. He was an ornery Texas guy who mighta been better were it not for frequent elbow issues. As a rookie with the Reds, he got into it with some autograph-seeking fans and faced an assault charge that was ultimately dropped. I musta also have forgotten the tragic detail in the post report.
  8. I also don't really care about how they do it, or really, even if they do it, this year.
  9. I no longer retain anything from the entire CitiField era
  10. because Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry SUCK ASS, that's why.
  11. I believe he was the first guy Frank Cashen traded for. I could be wrong about that. Remember that 3 hr game
  12. Yeah to me the biggest disappointment of that game came when they loaded the bases in the bottom of that inning with 1 out. Anything would have given the Mets the lead except a strike out, and Valentin struck out. Beltran's 9th inning K is overrated
  13. This is fun. Austin Hendrick: Urinated Chinks Raunchiest Kind Haircut Skinned (there's a million of em)
  14. Pete Crow-Armstrong Arm-Pete Crowstrong Strong-Pete Armcrow Strongarm Crow-Pete Crowstrong Pete-Arm I'm into this guy
  15. I know Apollo thru my work, they love buying and selling food retail chains (generate lots of cash, and hard to kill). Like all PE firms they do a fair amount of levering up to pay themselves, but have been more successful on the management side than most of their peers.
  16. It means if you loaned a dollar to Fred Wilpon he's likely to pay you 90 to 95 cents for it. Also, makes it more expensive for Fred to access more money.
  17. That shit doesn't work
  18. Howie is the rare 60-something whose beard makes him look younger
  19. Lynch of course was drafted by the Rangers and not the Mets but Met scouts woulda saw both. The highest drafted guy off the Gamecocks' baseball team was their ace pitcher Randy Martz but he only made a couple of appearances for the Cubs and White Sox
  20. Richard Neer probably said "you may have a point there" and moved onto the next caller who surely may have had a point there.

Is the guy really gay? Or is he Jack Tripper and you're Mr. Roper? That's great! I sorta am Mr Roper as I'm secretly irritated with the guy all the time and have outsourced all communication to Wifey Bucket.
  22. We just became landlords, not a great gamble on our part. We thankfully got the parents of our tenants to guarantee we get paid b/c making mortgage without their $$ would get difficult in a hurry. Two young 20 somethings, a gay guy and a girl. The girl split for Midwest mom and dad weeks ago. We think she musta lost her job. Here's Noah's last side job as a real-estate salesman: https://www.6sqft.com/mets-pitcher-noah-syndergaard-is-renting-at-midtowns-athlete-filled-sky/https://www.6sqft.com/mets-pitcher-noah-syndergaard-is-renting-at-midtowns-athlete-filled-sky/
  23. Syndergaard has some sketchy living arrangements. I believe he and Gselly we're bro-ing together in one of those new West Side high-rises, and Syndy appeared in leasing advertisements for it, sure they gave him a sweet deal on rent for that
  24. 10:40 pm starts, the latest of the late starts. I didn't know until just now it ever had turf. Lots of fun watching the 2000 playoffs
  25. He always seemed to toil for teams known more for their offense too
