  1. Seems like David always does well on opening day.
  2. 19 is DeAza and 20 is Lagares.
  3. Need another extra base hit, still.
  4. Perfect time for a bases-clearing double (or more) from Lucas here.

  6. Shit, why did we allow LWFS to do the first one of these this year, and risk him setting an unattainable standard for the rest of us? Outstanding.

  10. 94-68 1st place, NL East Win WS Edit: 94 wins is still the prediction. Just forgot how to subtract from 162.

  12. What is this new thing being called? The Coke Den, right?
  13. The Mets got Angel Pagan. I doubt I could tell you who they gave up if you gave me 100 guesses.
  14. 7/30/04 is Kazmir/Zambrano + Fortunato with Tampa Bay, right?
  15. Looked for but couldn't find: C. Gomez, C. Beltran, E. Chavez, 2007. Best defensive outfield the Mets ever put on the field.
  16. Neil Walker, in last year of contract: 25 homers, 45 doubles, leads team in OBP.
  17. Bought tickets immediately on Stubhub before people wake up and realize they can jack up their asking prices. I encourage those interested to do the same.
  18. If Cespedes stays for 3 years, it's still a very good deal for the Mets. Jay Jaffe in Sports Illustrated writes: [sports Illustrated's] What's He Really Worth model—which uses a player’s last three years of performance, estimates of the market cost for a win ($6.5 million for 2015), a 5.4% rate of inflation and a decline of 0.5 WAR per year for its aging curve—projects him to be worth $84.2 million over the next three seasons. . . . In other words, it doesn't take a best-case scenario for this to be a good deal, and it might turn out to be a bargain http://www.si.com/mlb/2016/01/23/new-york-mets-yoenis-cespedes-deal
  19. Wow. Just wow.
  20. Can't really answer the question as written. If the question was: "do the Mets make the playoffs without further offensive upgrades" I would vote "no." Also, for what it's worth, I personally don't believe that losing the wild card game is truly "making the playoffs" when using my normal standard that "making the playoffs is a successful season."
  21. David Wright currently falls at 22nd all time on the JAWS list for third basemen. http://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/jaws_3B.shtml He's going to need to start producing some outstanding years soon in order to really move up that list. Simply remaining a good player (say, averaging 3.0 WAR a season) for the next 5 years isn't going to do it.
  22. The biggest mystery to me: how does Clemens get 4 more votes than Bonds?
  23. Was in favor of signing him a couple of months ago; still am in favor.
