  2. Be sure to vote. (Unless you want "none of the above.")
  3. This year (2016 vote at Winter Meetings for 2017 induction), it's the "Today's Game" era that gets consideration. On the ballot: Harold Baines Albert Belle Will Clark Orel Hershiser Davey Johnson Mark McGwire Lou Piniella John Schuerholz Bud Selig George Steinbrenner

  5. Congrats to Vic Sage, who was pretty darn close about the record. Fortunately he was wrong about Walker and Cabrera though!
  6. Centerfield wrote: In my book, you do everything to get there first, then sort it out. You have Colon for game 1 either way. Game 2, you sort it out if you have to. Hell, it might even rain. I'm confused. You'd even use Colon on Wednesday?
  7. No. You play Duda. You don't have to love his numbers against lefties but you don't play players who just can't hit at all (Campbell, Plawecki, etc -- and are even worse) simply because they bat right-handed.
  8. I'm not usually a superstitious kind of guy...BUT....
  9. Centerfield wrote: I'm not sure I agree with this. Wednesday should be all hands on deck. I think the Mets should carry the best pitchers on the team, whether they are "starters" or "relievers". You can't totally sacrifice everything. If they win, they have games to play on Friday and Saturday. You have to hold back starting pitchers for those games, no?
  10. I'll be there Wednesday. I may have missed more of this season than I wanted to (although I did get to about 7 or 8 games) but I haven't missed a do-or-die Mets home game in quite some time. LGM

  12. Cheapest non-standing room ticket is $183 for Division Series Game 1 in Chicago. It's the World Series tickets for the Cubs that will be running in the several thousands on the secondary market.
  13. Ah, I see now. Club C faces EITHER Club A or B. It is not a guarantee that they face Club B.
  14. [crossout:27o17c0d]In the scenario where 3 teams tie for 2 wild card slots, "Club B" is the preferred designation, because you get two chances to make the wild card game. Yes, both are on the road, but it's far better to have two chances than one. I would expect the Cardinals to be "Club B" and for the Mets to be "Club A" if it came to a 3-team tiebreak. The Mets would host the Cardinals in a tie-breaker game on Monday. If the Mets win that game, they host the Wild-Card game on Wednesday.[/crossout:27o17c0d] Nevermind
  15. Centerfield wrote: Speaking of celebrations, what is the protocol on Wild Card celebrations? You celebrate nothing until you win the wild card game. Losing the wild card game is the same as not making the playoffs.
  16. I keep thinking there's some 2000s outfielder who played a short while with the Mets but had one good season elsewhere. I was surprised that Gary Mathews Jr. was wrong. Did Brady Clark ever hit 20 with Milwaukee? He had one good year with them I thought.
  17. I think Rick Wilkins once hit something like 30 home runs for the Cubs. I might be out of guesses at this point.
