  3. I expect Plawecki to outperform him but I might not put him at #10 yet. So howsabout Brook Fordyce? Or Josh Thole, maybe.

  6. Congratulations to Ichiro Suzuki for being the 30th player in MLB history to accumulate 3,000 hits. EASY: 1. Ichiro was the first player to reach 3,000 hits that has played for the Florida Marlins. That leaves two franchises who have never had a player on their roster (at any time) who has reached 3,000 hits. What 2 franchises? 2. Who are the only players to have played for the New York Mets who have accumulated 3,000 lifetime hits? MEDIUM 3. Ichiro played for 3 different teams (Seattle, New York-AL and Florida) in his career. 10 of the players to accumulate 3,000 hits played their entire careers with 1 team. Who are they? HARD 4. Ichiro is the seventh player to reach 3,000 hits to have played part of his career with the Yankees. Who are the other 6? 5. The Yankees are the only franchise to have 7 individuals who have played with them reach 3,000 hits. The next closest franchise had 5 players over its history. What franchise? And who were the 5 players? 6. Ichiro is the only player to have played for the Florida Marlins who has reached 3,000 lifetime hits. There are 7 other franchises that have had only 1 such player. Which franchises and which players?
  7. Edgy MD wrote: Johnson not picking it like Loney. Few do. Loney = Mets' best defensive first baseman since...Olerud?
  8. bmfc1 wrote: Loney got called out on strikes on a pitch a foot out of the strike zone. Umps suck. I'm sick of them. The idiot who couldn't find the strike zone in game one if you spotted him "strike" and "zon" gets game 2 off because it's a doubleheader... poor baby worked so hard! So MLB has to fly a minor league umpire in for game 2. Pathetic. Fire them all. Solid rant but it was the minor league umpire with the plate in game 1. Veteran ump Mike Winters (the one who was suspended for provoking Milton Bradley) has the plate in game 2.
  9. Zvon wrote: Is there anything they don't drag out these days? The games about to start and the noon induction goes into it's second hour. Actual ceremony here is supposed to start "promptly" at 1:30
  10. Lots of Griffey/Mariners people here. Still a majority for Piazza but it's a solid 60/40 split; nice representation by our AL friends. Surprising number of Griffey shirts/jerseys from Cincinnati. By contrast, only saw one or two Piazza things from the Dodgers. Have not seen any Marlins, Padres or As Piazza fans.
  11. Mets RHP Jeurys Familia notched the save on Saturday his 42nd straight conversion dating back to August. I know no one here wrote this, so it's not directed at anyone here, but...I have a real disdain for intellectually dishonest statistics. [end rant] Let's Go Mets!
  12. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Did he just say David Wright's Wifey was preggo? Have not been around here much but thought that was common knowledge.
  13. I wish the Mets hadn't done this.
  14. bmfc1 wrote: The next Mets game begins in 14 hours. I'm sure that the White Sox have been resting for hours. They had to travel from Kansas City
  15. In all seriousness, I think Terry could possibly get a game as he may have made too much physical contact with the umpires there. It was actually kind of funny, in that Terry absolutely was going to get himself thrown out, but the umpires had to let him go on quite a while as it so obvious that they had screwed up.
  16. Frayed Knot wrote: Gelbs via Twitter: Mets are skipping Matz's start on Saturday. Elbow soreness. No tests scheduled as of yet. Will see docs in NY when the team gets back. That's not good even if things are good. 1. They don't have doctors in LA? 2. What, we need him available to pinch-hit? If he's gotta see the doctor in NY, put him on the plane NOW
  17. Wait for Utley. He doesn't show his face, then you can go after Adrian Gonzalez in the final game.
  18. Duda looked almost as good in the high socks as he did crushing that homer. Are the high socks a new thing for him? (Or have I not been paying enough attention?)
  19. Shouldn't Michael Fulmer be in red too? Had a good debut for the Tigers this weekend.
  20. Paid attendance 44,666 today. Largest attendance at a non-World Series game since 2008.
  21. Have I ever asked why you keep posting that image? If not, why do you keep posting that image?
  22. Edgy MD wrote: Atlee gave up the first — and, I think, only — grand slam in All Star Game history. To Fred Lynn, and yes, that's right.
  23. Frayed Knot wrote: Already cold-ed out in Washington (was to have been a 4:00 start) but of course they're wimps there. Current Flushing forecast has the rain ending around first pitch time, then cold (38-40) and miserable and blustery after that. Shit. I really wanted a rainout tonight rather than sitting out in that mess.
  24. Need one more hit to break it open here.
