I gave Traschel 1 point in the 7/19 game despite him giving up 3 over 3.1 innings. I felt that he deserved a point for his pre-rain performance and that a manager has no business bringing a guy back after a 2 and 1/2 hour delay!
]Reyes .352 good. his previous OBPs have been totally unacceptable. This shows a huge improvement and i hope he keeps it up. ]Delgado .335 i guess he's walking more than i thought because the BA is bad right now (not that this number doesnt suck too.) its a good thing that Reyes, Beltran, and Wright are having such good years and the Mets are winning or Delgado would be hte frequent target of criticism (which I haven't heard any of yet, not even from WFAN callers)
i also have no problem with "general" enshrinements, provided that they are being enshrined for "overall contributions" or something other than a normal player, the plaque should be different, talking about their contributions to the game rather than trying to "make something out of nothing" with their on-field statistics
]Perhaps, but we need TWO of them to have success, not just one. And the odds of THAT, while gettng back a healthy Pedro, and having glavine return to solidity, and having Trax' steadiness level out at 1/2 run of ERA less, are NOT odds you really want to bet on. We really only need 4 guys pitching well not five, the 5th starter doesnt pitch in the playoffs and i'm not worried about missing the playoffs if 4 guys are pitching well.
]I remember during the Padres series in April, their announcers mentioned that having Jose Valentin on the bench was making a statement as he would be a starter on 26 out of 30 teams. I remember mocking them on this very board for that commentary. I was wrong. you were right. if we'd released him at the time i'd have to think he'd be unable to find an immediate MLB job and would have to hit at AAA for someone to get another shot. he's been hitting very well lately, but i think he's over his head and i pray that we look for a 2Bman (though not before we shore up the rotation) this offseason. edit- added quotation because there are now other posts after it and before mine

I forget if he was in uniform or announced himself as a member of the Yankees. Later i don't remember the commercial but t had to be the Mormon church, none of the other denominations advertise the bible on TV that i've seen. hey its yours free if you call now! i do need a new door-stop....
Edgy DC wrote: I think we haven't seen this for 20 years, but the Mets are running away with the division and this is them acting like it. If they have a temporary need --- a spot start, for instance, or a brief need for somebody to bat first or second --- they'd rather throw a more disposable player in there than pull a guy out of role he's flourishing in. It's a "don't upset the apple cart" mentality. but they have a legitimate need to figure out who is starting game 3 of the NLDS and (possibly) game 4 of the NLCS, giving starts to lima isn't helping them decide that, giving some to heilman might.

i'd ban him for life if he was actually convicted for perjury (thus "proving" he took steroids knowingly.) the income tax thing isn't, imo, baseball's business.
