  2. Then you shouldn't have said: ]the sample size is large enough that random variance alone can't really explain these results I'm not arguing that nady hasn't "come through" as often as he should in those spots, but I think "random variance" is a pretty darn good explanation for such a small sample size.
  3. i disagree as well, he has only 49 ABs with runners in scoring position this year. I'm having trouble finding numbers for previous years (lots of stuff won't load on my fuckin modem) but until i see more than a 50 AB sample size i won't even entertain the possibility that Nady "isn't clutch" if such a thing even exists.
  4. this series has reinforced the images in my head of astroturf being stupid. thank god it has been removed from the national league.
  5. "Izzy" just blew a 2-run lead to the Tigers, i'll bet the radio won't be harping on that one.
  6. soupcan just saved me $10 by telling me that there was no Katie holmes nude scene.
  7. the numbers supported Wagner over Ryan in the offseason. even now, Wagner looks good: 2.60 ERA, 14/18 SV, 34.2 IP, 24 H, 13R/10ER, 3 HR, 15 BB, 43K. these aren't numbers anything to worry about, except maybe the walks. the 4 blown saves: April 5th- a solo shot April 26th- unearned runs May 3rd- 2 hits, 2 walks, 2 runs June 21st- 2 hits, 2 walks, 2 runs he's doing fine.
  8. oh well.
  9. Speier gets Valentin and Nady with the bases loaded and the Mets settle for 1 run.
  10. 7-4 on Delgado' double, runners on 2nd and 3rd for David Wright, and they won't let the lefty face him.
  11. Reyes error lets the leadoff man on, lets see if Oliver can get out of it.
  12. el duque has NOT been ejected, he's been forced out of the game because Willie was charged with making a 2nd trip to the mound after stepping over the 1st base line when he came out to argue. edit- this is info is from the radio anouncers who heard it from Jay Horowitz.
  13. el duque has been warned, along with both benches. wouldn't it be nice if Halladay gets tossed for nothing next inning?
  14. I thought he meant nothing has gone right for the Orioles, not the minor league team, since they split
  15. yes there are, and i'd DH them 1 game each in those parks as well. these are like free offdays, i'll never understand why the Mets didnt give Piazza ALL of the DH games when they had the opportunity.
  16. former Met Armando Benitez blew it last night against the A's, they just played the highligt on WFAN with the comment "You've heard this before."
  17. DHing is a great day off for NL players in interleague, were i the manager i'd have let Beltran, Delgado, and Wright each get a day at DH.
  18. i'd have been the 20th fan still there at 4:00AM.
  19. Glavine 4.5 Wright 3 Nady 1 LoDuca 1 Milledge .5
  20. better the shoulder than the elbow i think. ..paging Mr. Owens...
  21. nice emergency work.
  22. this is a 7:07 start thanks to Canadians being idiots with clocks.

Sleepy-eyed and slow-moving? Makes Lastings sound like a caricature from a minstrel show. nothing to get worked up over. The writer is an IDIOT though: ]In fact, not only should the Mets bust this kid in rank, but do it with a firm, eyeball-to-eyeball warning. One final reprimand for good measure - if for no other reason than to break this kid's ego a bit. Tell him in no uncertain terms that he'd better learn to play and act like a major-leaguer in the future or be prepared to go back to the minors again and again. Yeah break that ego! we don't want anyone playing with enthusiasm or having fun! look what happened to the Griffey kid who used to smile all the time...
