  3. Drew is adorable, but you don't want to get conked by that chin.
  4. Hers isn't pointy, but it looks like it weighs about eight pounds.
  5. Have you ever seen Drew Barrymore's chin in profile?
  6. I also seem to remember Danny Murtaugh coming out of retirement to manage the NL All-Star team in 1972. (He won the World Series with the Pirates in 1971.) Who managed the All-Star teams in 1965? Both pennant-winning teams in 1964 ended up with new managers in 1965. As for Maggie, she's definitely cute, but I wouldn't call her "hot."
  7. Meanwhile, I plan to record the Brooklyn Dodgers documentary that's going to be on HBO tonight.
  8. What strikes me as funny is that John Stearns is trying to put his "Bad Dude" nickname behind him, but Charles Frederick Day, 60 years old next month, is still willing to be called "Boots."
  9. Why the hate for Rivera? Just because he electrocutes kids and dogs in his pool? Don't you know that he goes to church?
  10. Voting for the following games will close on Thursday: July 6, Astros 4, Mets 0: http://cranepoolforum.qwknetllc.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=6798 July 7, Mets 5, Astros 3, 17 innings: http://cranepoolforum.qwknetllc.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=6801
  11. I have heard good things about 61*. But I still don't want to watch it.
  12. I was too when I was a kid. I LOVED it that Lee Mazzilli hit a homer in the All-Star game. On the other hand, I had forgotten until today that David Wright hit one last year. In so many ways I'm not the fan I used to be.
  13. Never mind, I did it for you.
  14. The thought of watching 61* made me want to gag, so I didn't. (Billy Crystal gets a lot of credit for that gag impulse.) As for Bronx, the book sounds like it might be interesting, and I may one day read it, but I don't think I want to watch the made-for-TV movie. It sounds to me like one of those things where Cybil Sheppard plays Martha Stewart.
  15. Although he's too old to play him, I sometimes think of Billy Martin when I see Harry Dean Stanton.

  20. ="Edgy DC"] As you say, more baseball beats less baseball. We just have to find a way to make the All-Star Game --- excuse me, All-Star Series --- look like baseball again. You may be right. I wouldn't watch anyway, but you can't go by me. After all, I don't watch the World Series either, and those games certainly do count.
  21. ="Zvon"]I like the idea cuz for me the more baseball, the merrier I am. The week off also brings into discussion the possibliity of going back to a 154 game season. I'd rather see 162 games than 154. The week off in the middle of the season is excessive. I much prefer real games to meaningless exhibitions. Three days is fine, the players deserve a break. But I think less is more. If nobody's watching one All-Star Game, why would they watch three? For a few years in the 1960's there were two. I'm not aware of the exact reasons why they decided to do that, nor why they decided to abandon the idea so quickly.
  22. Centerfield wrote: Give me the guy who can hit. That was Davey Johnson's philosophy.
  23. True. I should have picked up on that.
