Milledge is younger than Dye, and under the team's control for more years. 2. You won't get Dye for Milledge even-up, so you'd also have to give up someone else, most likely another young promising player. The Mets do need to get another outfielder for this season. I just think that Milledge ought to be one of the candidates. Dye can be another.
  2. So is his "keep" value.

  5. Not at all interested. On Wednesday morning I'll check to see how the four Mets players did, and to see who won. But I haven't watched an All-Star Game since before the 1994 strike and I'd have to be desperately bored to ever watch one again.

  8. Does the banner scroll off the right side of your screen? Or does the combination of the phpBB graphic and the banner fit okay, but only the posts scroll off? I'm not having the problem, but I have my screen set to be 1,024 pixels wide.
  9. I don't see why a reporter needs to tell people to stay home, or to support the team. If I want to spend my money on baseball tickets, nobody should tell me I shouldn't. If I think that by buying tickets I'd be supporting a team that doesn't deserve that support, than nobody should tell me that I ought to be out there cheering on my team. Each individual fan can allot as much, or as little, money and time to their team as they see fit. There's no right or wrong.

  13. As soon as he's ready he's got to replace Newhan.
  14. No, I mostly ignore that as well.
  15. I've been ignoring it for probably about 15 years now.
  16. Have you heard anything about a Magneto movie? I seem to remember reading a rumor about it a few months ago, but it didn't seem like an authentic rumor to me. Captain America is reportedly going to be a "partial" period piece. I guess that means that either the first part will be set in World War II and then he'll get frozen in the ice, or else maybe the World War II stuff will be told in flashback. Incredible Hulk does have an all new cast from the awful 2003 movie. I've heard it referred to as a "relaunch", so hopefully it will have an all-new origin as well and have nothing to do with the first film. I sense that critics will howl with laughter at the Thor movie. They really have to move ahead carefully with that one, I think. Spider-Man 4, 2009? Interesting. Sub-Mariner yes, Aquaman no. I wonder if that's because people think that Vincent Chase's Aquaman movie was really made? I remember a TV entertainment journalist reporting that the second Pirates of the Caribbean movie had broken Aquaman's box office record.
  17. I'm afraid that Bruce would need a month filled with Independence Days in order to get back into the Top Twenty. It's hard to believe he was ever there. Right now he's tangling with Jose Reyes for the honor of being in 43rd place.
  18. UMDB traffic today is well below the summertime average. I guess a lot of people are off from work, and those who are in front of a computer probably are trying not to think about the Mets on the day after a 17-7 loss and a three-game sweep. This is the kind of day when an obscure Met can sneak out a victory with a relatively small number of hits.
  19. I know I saw The Rock, and seem to remember thinking it was okay. I'm not sure about Armageddon. Is that one of the two killer asteroid movies that came out around the same time? All I remember is that one had Bruce Willis and one didn't. One involved astronauts landing on an asteroid, and one didn't. I saw one of the two, but don't know which one. All I remember is that the one I saw had Tea Leoni in it. I don't even remember if I liked it! (I guess that means I was lukewarm towards it.)

  22. I don't think a Wright win would have been that ugly. In June he hit .323 and slugged .583 with 6 homers, 15 runs, 16 rbi, and 7 stolen bases. He was the best offensive player for the Mets in June. But I'm glad Maine won, and he is deserving.
  23. It appears that young Mr. Wright has hit a three-run homer in the top of the first inning.
