Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Well this game has taken some interesting turns!!And if you didn't see the Encarnacion injury, I'd be shocked if he plays again this year.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Jay Bruce again everybody, Jay Bruce!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Jay Bruce and Joe Smith ... ex-NYM heroes all over the field.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Win this fucking game, Cleveland.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Lets go seriously, I just used a racist word when I really meant "Guardians".
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Have I mentioned recently how much I love the replay system?Worst post-season pinch-running experience since Kolten Wong got picked off as the tying run for the final out of a game with Albert Pujols at the plate.

Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2017 Author Posted October 7, 2017 Sprained ankle; doesn't look good.I was out at a really bad play and missed the comeback. NNow I'm in the lobby with a room full of people checking scores on their phones.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 All the MFY fans on my various feeds are going BANANAS over some sort of baserunning gaffe by some dude who came in to pinch-run. Tough noogies, MFYs.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Not a TRUE YANKEE, apparently.

Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Thank golly, a loss there after all that would have sucked...
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2017 Author Posted October 7, 2017 ...and I was sitting there thinking, "just walk or something so that we can get to Lindor with less than 2 out".
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Hey look. Baseball is fun again. Mets. I can't imagine anything more miserable than our season. Yankees. Hold my beer.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 And now the Nate lose too. Baseball is fun again. What time is the Mets game?

Jay Bruce hits a soft liner up the middle but the shift has the SS behind 2nd base. Gregorius catches the ball and dives towards 2nd to double off E.E. (my spell check keeps trying to turn that name into Incarnation) He beats the fielder back to the bag but grossly twisted his ankle in doing so and then, to add insult to injury, came off the base because of the injury so replay review turned it into an inning-ending DP just when it looked like the seriously, I just used a racist word when I really meant "Guardians" were poised to break the game open (3-2 Cleveland at the time when it had been 2-0 Yanx).
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 I bitched about the lack of concurrent games in this round, but then I took a sick day (legitimately due to illness) and I've been watching playoff baseball non stop since about 3 PM or so, and I'll say, hey, maybe it's pretty good. Helps that the MFYs and Nats both lost.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Edgy MD wrote:So much Yankee down-ness.Who will replace Girardi? The biggest complaint about Girardi tonight was that the Yanx didn't challenge the HBP which loaded the bases and preceded the Lindor Grand SlamThe HP ump immediately called that it hit the batter's hand but it certainly could have hit the knob of the bat. The Yanx opted not to challenge -- though that's not usually the manger's call -- and the next batter, Lindor, banked a pitch off the foul pole in RF to bring the lead from 8-3 down to 8-7At that point, what are you saving your challenges for?!?
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 "Waitress, I'll have an extra-big helping of Yankee Pain. And plenty of maple syrup."
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 "Crushing loss" and "Yankees" is always a good combination.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 So even though these teams get a day off today before resuming on Sunday night (7:30) the bullpen that the Yanx lean on so heavily has been taxed pretty heavily and might have trouble bouncing back if Tanaka finds himself in early trouble in Game 3Between the games Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday each of their relievers has made two appearances except for Warren & Garcia who each pitched in only Thursday's gameChad Green -- 2.1 IP / 52 pitches totalDavid Robertson -- 5.0 / 77Tommy Kahn -- 3.0 / 37Aroldis Chapman -- 3.0+ / 47Dellin Betances -- 3.0 / 46Adam Warren -- 1.0 / 22Jamie Garcia -- 2.2 / 44
