Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Fuckin’ hell, Cleveland!!!!
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2017 Author Posted October 12, 2017 Hell of an at bat. Awful throw from Bruce.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Gardner and the Cleveland defense seal the deal here.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Winning 20+ games is the recipe for collapsing to the Yankees in the ALDS.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 You almost KNOW they're going to score one or two this inning (but not three).
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 ...while stranding the tying run on third.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2017 Author Posted October 12, 2017 Well, that sucked.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 I just became a real big Houston Astros fan.Better them than the Red Sox (IMO). Thought the Indians were the AL's best team this year, thought Houston was the second best.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 This was the worst day of baseball since Noah got hurt and before that last year's WC game. I fantasized about both of those SOBs being eliminated but now they play on. I have no doubt that WSH will win today and baseball life will continue to suck for at least 2 more weeks. Now to congratulate a MFY fan across the hall. Crap.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 I fucking can't with these fans and team....
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Sigh. My only remaining rooting interest is in seeing the Yankees eliminated. Now I'm in the strange position of wanting the Houston Astros to be the American League champions.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 (edited) Hey Francisco Lindor: nice Grand Slam but you were 1 for 17 otherwise. You want to be counted among the great young short stops in the game today? Not with that shit you're not.And Jose Ramirez: you were supposed to be the secret weapon, the best player no one knows about. Well guess what? You're still invisible to most baseball fans because you barely showed up in this series [2-for-20, both singles]And Corey Klubar, I'm not even speaking to you. Two starts totaling 6.1 innings total and you served up 9 runs including 4 HRs?!? Shit, I can get Matt Harvey to do that for me. Go get a freakin' Klu, eh! Edited October 12, 2017 by Guest

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 From Terry Pluto's column:http://www.cleveland.com/pluto/index.ssf/2017/10/cleveland_indians_season_ends.htmlBut the main culprit was this: The bats went silent.Francisco Lindor? The All-Star shortstop was 2-for-18 ... six strikeouts.Jason Kipnis? He was 4-for-22 ... eight strikeouts.Jose Ramirez? He was 2-for-20 ... seven strikeouts.Edwin Encarnacion? He was 0-for-7 ... and missed three games with an ankle injury.Michael Brantley? Coming back from an ankle injury, he was 1-for-11.Tribe designated hitters were designated outs ... a combined 1-for-18, Brantley's single was the only hit.The weight of great expectations combined with a fear of a postseason flop seemed to infect nearly ever Cleveland player swinging a bat.The Indians batted .171 for the five games.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 I don't really care. I have no love for the Cubs either.

In truth though my feelings on it aren't all that strong and I suspect I'll probably be pulling for whoever the winner out of this series is over the Dodgers.

But Lindor was a few inches away from a Game 3 home run; I'd take 3-18 if two of the three hits were home runs. And the Indians scored more earned runs than the Yankees in Game 4. The 7 total errors in Games 4 and 5 - ick. So if I wanted to pin the blame on anything, I'd start with the defense.I'll be happy for the Murph if he wins it all. Likewise for Granderson. But still, go Astros!
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 I'd root Dodgers over Nats. Granderson + just wanting the team that beat us to lose as a rule.I don't really have anything against the Cubs winning again either.Favorite is still Beltran's Astros though.
