Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Well it's not like Wheeler and Pill and Matz were all declared out for the season this week ... oh wait!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Holy crapoli. Just heard about this. Didn't believe it and came here to see. I still find it hard to believe.
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 At this point, only three position players from the opening day roster haven't been on the DL -- and all three have been traded.Twelve pitchers have started for the Mets this year. Only four have avoided the DL -- Degrom, Montero, Flexen, and Tyler Pill.I thought 2009 was bad, but this is a disaster.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 25, 2017 Author Posted August 25, 2017 I like that, in the age of ballplayers modeled on superheroes, the two ectomorphs—Blevins and deGrom—are the only guys to remain with the team the whole season.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Torn posterior capsule. Any word on recovery time for surgery?
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Metsblog says 3-6 months recovery in the event of surgery.Other papers are saying it could be as long as 9-12 months.Seems like a huge discrepancy in projections.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 i have to admit that upon hearing this, i literally laughed out loud. You have to appreciate the biblical scale of how disastrous this season is turning out. Locusts? It looks like we're soon going to see the death of our first born.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Dr. David Chao offers some optimistic thoughts on Conforto in the light of what appears to be a very serious injury.http://www.nj.com/mets/index.ssf/2017/08/mets_michael_conforto_shoulder_surgery_is_an_optio.html#incart_river_index

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 So according to a whole host of people, some of whom are doctors, some of whom are not, some of whom have spoken to doctors but none of which have actually examined Conforto, this could either be a long rehab or a shorter one depending on things we don't know yet and aren't going to know because none of those commenting on these things are going to examine Conforto. But we'll be back to bring you more details as they remain unavailable.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 25, 2017 Author Posted August 25, 2017 I don't know, but it's sort of why I'm slow to target offseason acquisitions. Lots can change over the remaining weeks.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Its' just too early to target much.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I don't know. it seems to me that the Mets should target upgrading their strength and conditioning staff.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 He should just change his name to "Shirley"
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Benjamin Grimm wrote:He should just change his name to "Shirley"NO!I heard a report on radio a few days ago (WCBS?) about a study that found that deaths from storms named after women were three times higher than from those named after men. The study covered that last ten tears. One conclusion was that we think of women being "gentler and nicer" than men, so the public doesn't believe the warnings are as serious when the storm is named after a woman and tend to disregard them.Keep the name Harvey, please.Later
