ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 TDA is close. On the Espn piece, multiple sources? Cmon.I don't buy that the Mets have a systemic business problem with injury management. At the moment they do have a dozen guys on the wrong side of 30. There may lay the true answer.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 This is the first official game (extended ST doesn't count) for the two pitchers which means it also 'starts the clock' on their rehab time. 20 days is, I believe, the maximum time allowed which takes us to June 7th as the latest date they could be activated - 17 games on the schedule between now and then.Of course they can always been re-DL'd if things don't go well but, set-backs aside, we now at least have a time frame for the two which is more than we've had since this whole thing began back in STThat date should also serve as a wake-up call to the current under-performers. The Syndergaard injury and the crashing and burning by in-house replacements (Montero, Wilk) have left Terry with fewalternatives to those currently contributing to the league's worst ERA but soon (hopefully anyway) there will be. Gsellman, Harvey & Milone will need to sing for their supper now over the next 2-3 weeks.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 That's two DFAs for Cd'A in 1/4 of one season (Braves and now Bosox). Baseball is a tough business at times.1 run on 2 hits, 2 BBs, 3 Ks over 3 innings for Matz in PSL yesterday3.2 shutout innings for Lugo: 2 hits / 0 Ks / 0 BB Each faced 13 batters. Can't find any pitch count data although just looking at the lines you'd expect it took more for Matz to get through his stint than Lugo
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Per the snooze, Cespedes' return has been pushed back a few more days. I would not be shocked if he's out another 2-3 weeks.I would be willing to plunk Nimmo in center for awhile. Lets find out, the kid looks ready.

LaterI will be shocked if the Mets get more than 5 starts out of Matx before he is hurt again. The guy just seems fragile. He always seems to have some sort of injury.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Matz: 5 runs on 5 hits in 4 innings vs Round Rock tonight; 2 walks, 4 Ks, and 2 HRs (both to the same guy - Cesar Puello!!)Sounds like he'll need at least one more tune-up.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 Asdrubal Cabrera: went 2-for-5 in his rehab assignment w/Binghamton Wednesday night.Terry said that he could need "from six to ten games" before being reactivated. So, mid/late next week if nothing else goes haywire.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 Matz: 5 runs on 5 hits in 4 innings vs Round Rock tonight; 2 walks, 4 Ks, and 2 HRs (both to the same guy - Cesar Puello!!)I always knew my kid could hit well against a major league pitcher. (Just didn't think it would happen in the minors)Later
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 28, 2017 Posted May 28, 2017 Cespedes went 0-2 with a walk and a run scored in his first rehab start with St. Lucie last night. Unfortunately, Cepsedes who has been out due to a strained left hamstring, had to leave the game in the 6th inning after experiencing tightness in right quad while running the bases. He is not expected to play again until Tuesday at the earliest.http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/19480896/yoenis-cespedes-new-york-mets-shut-least-tuesday-soreness-right-quad
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 29, 2017 Author Posted May 29, 2017 Helluva rehab start for Steven Matz agains the mighty El Paso Chihuahuas.I have to conclude that he's done rehabbing.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 And if you can strike-out a whole ton of Chihuahuas your stuff will work against anyone.Gotta also like seeing Nimmo with a 4-for-5 day including 3 doubles.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 29, 2017 Author Posted May 29, 2017 Already reported above. That actually was last night.Meanwhile after Matz' day was done, Alberto Baldonado came on and put up this line: 0.1 IP, 3, H, 4 Runs (all earned), 1 BB, 0 SO.He can be a Met with a show like that. But amazingly, he was credited with a hold.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Seth Lugo, a Rumble Pony du jour, allowed 3 runs on 8 hits + 2 BBs + 8 Ks over 6 innings to various (Hartford) Yard GoatsBingo went down 3-2

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 29, 2017 Author Posted May 29, 2017 Week to 10 days, sez Alderson. Even as he came out of the game, they were announcing he'd be back on Tuesday. It was reported as tightness, and he came out of the game out of caution, rather than an injury.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 If April 27th to June 7th counts as two months, then yeah.btw, there are guys who have missed half a season or more with hamstring injuries.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Is it me, or did the back thing start like this, too?Collins said Walker told him the knee was bothering him after Tuesday’s game.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Ces back Saturday as the 26th man for the doubleheader per Puma. YIPPEE!I saw Lugo slated to start, I think Sunday.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 So many places to mention Cabrera's thumb has him back on the DL.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 And Jay-or-Reese Familia hopes to get clearance to start throwing.

Guest themetfairy Guests Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 While this is not baseball-related, D-Dad will be consulting with a surgeon at the Hospital for Special Surgery on Monday. Last month he had a fight with a kayak, and the kayak won big time. Between a damaged labrum and a fracture in the shoulder, he's going to need to be put back together, and it's way more complicated a procedure than what can be done in Suburgatory. At least Ray Ramirez will be 3,000 miles away from the City on Monday....
