I just don't get White Jerry's thought process sometimes.. You have a pitcher who averages 6.2 ip per start and you pitch him like he's a vanilla relief pitcher.

I have to agree. IMO this is a misuse of Colon (in both games he was used in). But we have gotten this far. I cannot complain. Doh!

Thoughts on the game!!!!!11!

1. Joined the tailgate for pregame nutrition (thanks!!!) and as a result left my seat only once -- to pee -- for that entire game. Considered but declined orange face paint available to me.

2. Voice-less by introductions, when I engaged in creative ways to unfavorably compare Mattingly to peers. "Cut-rate Keith Hernandez!" "Grady Little wannabe!" etc. I was only trying to make my friends I attended with laugh since of course no one voice could be heard.

3. Speaking of, what the hell was the 1st inning delay about? I briefly tuned in the radio to find out by at the time Howie didn;t seem to know.

4. Everyone agreed what a fraud and a douchebag Harvey is. Fooled nobody in the second. David Wright, as ever, saved his sorry ass with that leaping catch on Kendrick or things we're about to get ugly.

5. All that said, I had CAHNfidence the Mets would battle back. Much is made of how we got here by beating "bad" teams, but it's true. Put an average lefthander out there and he's going to get killed. Eff you, Brett Anderson.

6. Great swings by d'Arnaud, you don't need me to tell you this but that's the best he's looked in weeks, and getting him going is of course yuge. Made up for poor Lucas Doodoo who was the only hitter in the lineup who didn't look good.

7. The crowd did clear out early but you can thanks Mattingly and his shitty team for that. I didn't get home till 1:20 despite being on the 1st Super Express.

8. I forget what 8 was for.

9. I didn't at all mind going to Goeddel, even though it didn't work out, and thought whatever ended the game was best I guess it was a case of overkill fixing underkill. I guess the Dodgers like us also hit subpar pitching. Gonzalez is mot dangerous, Tynra has had the most hits, but Either to me looks like he's having the best turns at the plate. Those 3, plus Kendrick I guess, are the guys who worry you.

10. Dug deep in the drawers to pull out Wonderful Woody for this one and it worked.

That's what they finally said on the TV broadcast, and Ronnie apologized for calling out the umps for prematurely issuing warnings. Howie was nearly apoplectic on the radio at the time.

The neighborhood kid I used to play Whiffle Ball with as a kid reported that HR ball landed 5-feet from him, and posted a pic with the ball catcher this morning.

This has been a problem. Back in 2006 there were so many ways to get pics right off the net as a game was going on. Yahoo & google images searches (Mets NLDS) set to: posted LAST 24 HOURS. And there were other sources and feeds as well.

That's all changed. No more quick results thru google or yahoo. You turn up nothing! Wasn't finding quick pics sources at all, and if I did they were already watermarked (suck meh balls Corbis). The first two cards were made from images lifted from an ESPN page header. The NYDailyNews photography feed can be quick but can't be counted on for that. ESPN posts photos right after the game but the quality/rez is so weak that I won't use em and you can't right click and save (enabled), you have to take a full screen shot. I have to think that's intentional. Suck mah balls ESPN.

Through looking at various current means of social media I think I've found that the twitter feeds of different sports outlets post nice pics shortly after they are taken. Tumblr is very good, especially for .gifs. I was able to put out around 4 cards during the game. That's way down from 2006 when I had so many game images coming in I couldn't use em all, and had many more cards going up in an IGT. This is just a sign of how the net has been throttled.

Twitter is best during the game (of course you must follow those who post em-ESPN,SNY,etc). Sometimes The Daily News is too, but certainly they have good pics an hour or two after. So the way things are set up these days it makes it very difficult to post cards as the game progresses. And that kinda sucks.
