I think the reasoning here is that Utley ran off the field because he was called out, and now that because the call was reversed he can't be penalized for it.
But they've got to be fucking kidding me if they're going to reverse it on any of the angles that we saw.

My stomach started to sink when they reversed Utley @2nd. Complete bullshit going by every view I saw. And whats this about Utley never touching second? Did he go back and tag it? It looked like he was going to.

But the logic (I'm guessing) is that if the play was "correctly" called in the first place that Utley would have touched up instead of leaving the field like he was told.
It's just another example of the fallacy that replay can retroactively fix incorrect calls to what supposed to happen.
