G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Three cheers for OTOFT (our temporary other favorite team) the San Diego Padres for hanging on in their 6-5 win over the Nationals. Two home runs for Justin Upton, who is forgiven for that dinger through the raindrops four weeks ago broke our hearts beyond repair one day before the trade for Yoenis Cespedes stitched them back together just fine.Beloved righty Andrew Cashner goes up against heathen Joe Ross (he dares to wear 41????) 7:05 Thursday night.OTOFT becomes the Miami Marlins this weekend, but for now Let's Go Padres!
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 This game warrants a little more attention. The Nats were down 6-2 heading into the bottom of the 7th. They rally for 3 runs, after a huge 2 run single from Bryce Harper. That hit puts runners on first and third with one out. Yunel Escobar is up in the count 3-0. A walk puts the winning run in scoring position with Ryan Zimmerman coming up. Escobar swings 3-0 and grounds into a double play. But wait, there's more. On a bang-bang play at first, Escobar decides not to run through the bag, but instead slide head first. Maybe he saw Roberto Alomar do it many years ago.Well done Yunel Escobar. If the rules would allow it, I would bring you Schaefer.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Finally, Saturday night, you can all root for Tom Koehler with me.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Great! We're stuck having to root for that ill-educated douchebag!Pennant races make strange bedfellows.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 YOU WILL ROOT FOR HIM AND YOU WILL ALL LIKE IT/buys two dozen Marlins 34 KOEHLER shirts/mails them to everyone here
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Hopefully he's not too stupid to win for once.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 I call bullshit on there being 24 available KOEHLER 34 shirts.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Why would they even have been manufactured in the first place?
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 The MLB Shop does not have them as a pre-made option (only STANTON, SUZUKI, FERNANDEZ and GORDON seem to be available), but they do allow customization. The site throws back an error if you add 24 of them to the shopping cart, though...so Edgy may be right.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Because they're probably lovingly hand-crafted and they don't want to break their shirtmakers.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Wolfie, pay no attention to the unwashed, cretinous cranes who flock here. A true scholar/athlete cannot be truly appreciated in these environs. One would think some respect would be due a pitcher named Tom around these parts, but apparently one would be wrong.Sally forth, Mr. Koehler... damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!and Smithers... release the hounds!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Wow, they apparently teach Advanced Clich at Stony Brook.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 So, yeah, the Pods didn't, like, win. But they did seem to rub some bad, bad mojo all around the joint on their last night in town:-- Span to the DL again (and looking unlikely to return this year)-- Escobar out after being hit with a pitch on the right wrist-- Michael Taylor out with a knee contusion (pending MRI) after a bad collision with the center-field fence
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Span and Taylor on the same day. THAT is demoralizing.Unless, by some crazy chance, your name is Matt den Dekker. I assume he's the next in line.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 All the same, tanks for nuttin' Pods. Great choice to ride this club as a contender at the deadline too, idiots.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2015 Author Posted August 29, 2015 Thanks for nuttin, Tom Kola.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Can I return my shirt?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Expect to see lots of third-world kids wearing those Koehler jerseys.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I'm watching the Nationals-Cardinals game. (Familiar voice of Tim McCarver in the booth) and the Cards have just come back from a 5-3 deficit to tie the game in the 7th

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 2-run double by Hayward makes it 7-5 St. Louis!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Is he gonna wear that face thing the rest of his life?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Wong drives in another! !
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I've been watching for about 15 minutes and the Cards have scored five runs in that time.
