Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 You may have heard about this guy.Gimme his numbers for 2012 NOW!!!!
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 This may be the hardest one on the list. I think he'll have a 3.4 ERA or so, but I'm at a loss for how many strikeouts/starts he'll have. Projecting even 25 seems crazy optimistic..on the other hand, he's still standing.. I need some time..
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 12-9, 3.33, 171 IP, just qualifiying for the ERA title. He'll pitch better than his record, but he'll be pulled from too many games too early to secure la victoire, and will fall victim to his pen and to his manager's kid gloves.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Santana throwing his normal bullpen, and the report is that it's so routine that only two reporters are watching.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I think he'll still start off the season a little rusty, so he'll have some "That's not where I wanted to throw that pitch" moments, especially with the new outfield dimensions. But I also think the offense will be able to keep him in the game (and away from the bullpen) longer, especially when he's on a roll.31 GS 15-10 3.56 ERA 187 IP.Later

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 13-6, 3.46, 170.1 IP, 165 KI think he's very good most games, with some blips here and there. I think the offense actually bails him out of a couple.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I'm predicting something close to his 2009 stats:25 starts, 166.2 IP, 13-9, 3.13 ERA, 146 K, 46 BB

smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 13-8, 3.40, 180 IPIt's funny that given how huge the error bars have to be, we all seem to be looking for (and would very happily take, I'd imagine) a safe middle.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 25 starts. 11-8, 3.90 ERA.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 19 starts, 7-6, 129 IP, 3.71 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 111 K/39 BB, 12 HR allowed
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 27-2, 0.51 ERA, 390 K's, wins the Cy Young and humps Jason Pridie's wife.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Out of the rotation after four starts and on the DL.....1-2 ERA over 7
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 9-10, 3.69, 139 IP, 93/33That's Roy Oswalt's line last year, Johan's "most similar by age"

Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 5-7 over the first half, with an ERA hovering around 4; shows enough for the Mets to move him by the July deadline; they work out a deal over the all-star break where they eat 1/2 his remaining $$ and get back a B prospect, but he blows out his arm again just before the deal goes down. Mets have to buy him out after the season. He comes back in 3 years in Minny as "comeback player of the year". Then he screws Pridie's wife.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 He's back! 15-11, has once special afternoon where he deals the first no-hitter in team history.

You've got Johan at 15-11 and Niese at 17-10. And they're pitching for a team that many expect will lose 85-90 games this season.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Well, I think we're going to be better than "most expect."Today's developments in court lift a huge black cloud over this franchise. Sure, it's about six months late. I'm not saying we win the pennant. But I'll settle for the old "meaningful games in September" line this year.Remember, they weren't that far from .500 last season. Now they'll get Ike, Murphy, Wright and Santana back and have a closer, even if he does allow a stolen base or two or 10. I'm an optimist, no doubt.

He twice struck out Freese on pitches that caused the Cardinal's bat to go flying into foul territory down the third-base line -- once on a slider, once on a changeup."I threw some good ones out there. When I'm able to set everything up, and throw my fastballs and mix my changeups, sometimes that happens," Santana said about the bat-flying episodes. "I'm pretty sure he was trying to hit a ball and I threw the right pitch and he swung and missed. It's good to see those swings sometimes." http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/40565/santana-breezes-through-grapefruit-start-no-4
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 "I'm pretty sure he was trying to hit a ball..."gee, Johan, ya think? what tipped you off? His presence in the batter's box with, ya know, a bat?
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 7-5, 3.50, traded to the Tigers in mid-season.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Here's a good over/under. 128 more (so 133?) strikeouts for Johan Santana on the season. That's the number he needs for 2000.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
